yala , to linux in Security considerations between Xen vs KVM?

From the FAQ of Qubes OS (i.e. most secure desktop OS for general use):

“Why does Qubes use Xen instead of KVM or some other hypervisor?”

“In short: we believe the Xen architecture allows for the creation of more secure systems (i.e. with a much smaller TCB, which translates to a smaller attack surface). We discuss this in much greater depth in our Architecture Specification document.”

  1. Firefox doesn’t “collect absolutely everything”.
  2. DO donate to Mozilla as without them the Firefox, Tor, Mullvad, Floorp, Mull, Waterfox AND Librewolf browsers wouldn’t exist.
  3. Librewolf disables SafeBrowsing, which is a security must-have for anyone installing a browser for friends/family - and in many cases even for yourself.
  4. Even the Librewolf developers say "Safe Browsing is still a good security tool and Mozilla’s implementation is privacy respecting."
  5. Yes, if you know what you’re doing use Librewolf. For everyone else, Firefox is a great move.
rufus , to selfhosted in I love my Gitea. Any tips and tricks?

Forgejo is a fork of Gitea. As of now I don’t think they have diverged much. So they’re (still) about the same. It was mainly created because of the takeover of the domain and trademark by a for profit company. Not because of different functionality.

Someone mentioned this awesome fork of it for that reason forgejo.org/compare/-was-forgejo-created

snowe , to nostupidquestions in Why does markdown always format bullets wrong?

CommonMark itself even claims that markdown doesn’t have a spec, so not sure you can claim it’s not badly defined. spec.commonmark.org/0.30/-is-a-spec-needed-

asciidoc is much better defined, has hardly any edge cases, supports vastly more features, and is a lot easier to use (the lack of a spec doesn’t ever get in the way)

out of the box isn’t enough for a new distro.

I’m a bit surprised that they mentioned “distribution” on the Bluefin website, as the Universal Blue site (the base project behind Bluefin) explicitly mentions not being a distro - and I know that Jorge tends to be very clear that they’re not building a distro:

This isn’t a distribution, you can always rebase back to Fedora without reinstalling. This is a unique relationship between upstream and downstream that is popular in cloud, but still new to the Linux desktop. “Custom images” seems to be a decent place to start since that’s what people call them in cloud.

Here’s why.

Because I like the 2-clause BSD license. I am not a fan of “copyleft” or forcing obligations on people in general. I want my software to be available for anyone who wants to use it.

SNFi , to asklemmy in Are there any good/interesting launchers for Android by Linux desktop standards?

I have been using this launcher for years: kisslauncher.com

At first, I disliked, but now I got used because it’s very fast and simple… I don’t think this is what you are looking (customizations) but just wanted to show this.

Consider Universal-Blue:

May I also suggest installing Silverblue or Kinoite and rebase to:

Or try the ISO:

It’s cloud based image of Fedora with NVIDIA drivers slipped right in there, easy peasy.
