I wanted to show that the pre-wash cycle is /important/ - that having detergent in the first rinse actually accomplishes something.
The main thrust of that video was that detergent packs skip that first step, and what I wanted to show was the value of that first step. If you had a dishwasher that worked fine with pods, there would be no reason to change your habits - and I explicitly said as much
"How Reddit crushed the biggest protest in its history - The Verge"
Meanwhile #RedditMigration is still happening and there are more groups added to the #Fediverse by the day. #Malaysia even has a #Lemmy instance & members are really happy to be there. i suspect this is repeated everywhere in the Fediverse right now.
Honestly, I suspected they would never change the #Reddit CEO's mind.
But they sure made themselves heard on the way out 😏
@liztai They are seizing control of a dying site, replacing mods and reversing user’s decisions. All this for financial gain to overshadow the community and ultimately lose any trust left
PSA for any fellow Linux CS players out there: the June 20 update to CSGO made the game crash on every launch for me until I disabled the Steam overlay. Not sure exactly what the cause was, but I suspect something with CSGO doesn't play nice with the redesigned Steam overlay.
"The magazine from the federated server may be incomplete. Browse more on the original instance." - why does this appear and how can I turn it off? I cannot log in to other servers to post
I get the point, but the prominence of it makes it look like an error. Frankly, I find it a bit anti federation, like the only reliable content is on-instance.
@ABCDE it's just telling you that having subscribed to a community on another instance after it was created there may be older posts that are not present on your instance and providing you a link to the same community on the home instance if you want to look at older/not yet federated content.
Given Trek fandom are often the first colonizers of online spaces in internet history (eg newsgroups) losing major Star Trek communities is big L for Reddit.
EDIT: Not permamently locked subreddits, got that wrong I think!
Sounds like mods there are toxic. Not best for vast majority of people who want to know which Trek is good and which Trek is not so good.
edit: Didn’t even know this was posted to startrek.website. I am not subscribed there so I don’t know why I even saw it. Also, what is the reason for pointing out this forum exists inside this forum?
Can’t wait till they bring up a ShittyDaystrom. I’ve got a post brewing about how the Federation wouldn’t exist without disgusting Ferengi sex programs. It’s way too long and snooty for Risa, and far too ridiculous for the actual Daystrom. :(
Hard to follow #lemmy posts from Mastodon. I decided to follow @nostupidquestions to try it out and each comment that someone posts shows up as a boost and only sometimes is threaded. Time to check out #kbin.
while it’s cool that mastodon, kbin and lemmy can all talk to one another, the format of mastodon just doesn’t play nice with kbin and lemmy. if it works for you, that’s cool, but i’d recommend separate accounts for microblogging and thread-style social media
Hey mods, with the subreddit back up, will you be here too or is this place now abandoned? Since I'd love to contribute to the discussions here if possible but I see zero mentions of this place in the reopening post
@MattMist Heyy, such a dellayed response, no doubt, sorry about that. But indeed we are still here. Kbin is not at all abandoned and we will continue to experiment here. Thanks for sticking with us.
Next time try to ping me, so that I can get a notification and respond faster. Cheers.
Ooh, just followed my first lemmy community from Mastodon. Seems I just have to replace the "!" with "@" when I search for them. They seem to show up as a "Group" here. Nice!
@veronica@startrek yep, and I follow some of those #startrek communities as well and it’s great. Just as a warning you will see every comment as a post, so make sure to click on them so you see the whole “thread” and get the context.
YSK - You can save mobile.weather.gov to your phones Home Screen and avoid the adds and bloat of other weather apps. https://mobile.weather.gov/
“Why YSK: Many paid and unpaid apps get their information from the National Weather Service (NWS). This information is freely available and paid for though taxes, which the other companies try to profit off of. Skip the BS and just go to the source. It might not be the most polished website, but it’s easily navigable (has an old iOS feel to it).
I can’t give a guide for android users, but for iPhone, open safari and head to “mobile.weather.gov”. Once the website is loaded, click the share icon on the bottom middle of your screen, and then select “add to Home Screen”.
