Huh? For something to be “dead”, it has to be “alive” first. This never existed so the title is weird.

Fades ,

Picard S3 all but birthed it, it felt like a meaningful set-up and passing of the baton, after bringing seven back into the federation fold and now as a captain (news delivered by Tuvoc). The writers and such were also wanting it to be a thing

To say it never existed is quite reductive

HollandJim ,

Whether the writers wanted it or not is not the point - it’s never been suggested for production. The producer said as much.

To suggest anything more is quite fabulist.

FlyingSquid OP ,

Picard showrunner Terry Matalas even suggested the name for the new show. It’s obvious that he was expecting it to happen.

nxdefiant , in Star Trek: Legacy Dead, We Mourn Series That Felt So Right

Captain 7of9 would have been among the best of them. I hope they get a movie.

I completely agree!

Such a bummer. It’s Star Trek: Phase II all over again.

https://y.yarn.co/2db013e1-bf29-4ffa-be27-6afd60ca27ea_text.gif

Maybe, if we’re lucky, Star Trek: Academy will pleasantly surprise us.

aeronmelon ,

Well, the death of Phase II gave us the movie series and The Next Generation. Short term loss translated into long-term gain, which led to the golden era of Star Trek.

It remains to be seen if this door closing opens other, better doors.

ummthatguy ,
@ummthatguy@lemmy.world avatar

Paramount had previously announced setting a trend with 1 Trek movie per year. Beyond Section 31, I know of no others specifically mentioned. Keep hope alive that the concept gets retooled. And perhaps… some holo logs of Captain Shaw.

Starship Command Tips with Captain Shaw.

Right along side Healthcare Tips with the EMH Mark I.

ummthatguy ,
@ummthatguy@lemmy.world avatar
aeronmelon ,

That’s why I specified Mark I. It has to be Picardo or no dice.

ummthatguy ,
@ummthatguy@lemmy.world avatar

I only clarified because there are still plenty of Mark I’s out there scrubbing plasma conduits. Only 1 sang opera and daydreamed about being a captain.

aeronmelon ,

Fair point, it has to be Voyager’s EMH.

‘There’s a Mark II on the Prometheus, but he has no sense of humor.’

ItsAFake ,

I really want an update on that story, like did it spark something in the Mark I’s, did they form a union? Overthrow their owners? We’re there poets or philosophers because of what they learnt from The Doctors holonovel?

aeronmelon ,

Seriously though, that fourth Kelvin movie is actually still alive and Chris Pine is still signed to it. After all the dead horses Paramount has thrown in front of it, they should just let it through and see how it does. I think it’ll be good and actually make money, like all the other Kelvin movies did. Especially if Simon Pegg gets to write again.

OsaErisXero ,

Yes, but what if it doesn't make all the money?

aeronmelon ,

Then it would be a complete failure and Paramount would have to layoff 8,000 single parents to make up for it.

Reverendender , in Star Trek: Legacy Dead, We Mourn Series That Felt So Right

Well. This is simply unacceptable. I would like to lodge a formal protest. On the official record. Take note!

I picked up the pdf. This is perfect timing since the D&D campaign I’ve been playing in for 3 years ends on Monday. It looks amazing so far, but I haven’t gotten too deep into it. I will likely buy the book when I can. They also have a Lower Decks campaign setting which I absolutely am going to pick up when I can.

FlyingSquid OP ,
@FlyingSquid@lemmy.world avatar

If the LD campaign isn’t extremely funny, I would be disappointed.

When you direct a TNG episode but you’re also in the episode, you don’t take the makeup off.

Went to the page, read about it, and then to the Modiphius page to buy the book where it estimated shipping at $37 for untracked US Post Office?? For a single book? The shipping is almost as much as the book. Speaking of Star Trek, what kind of parallel universe did I wake up in? That is insane!

FlyingSquid OP ,
@FlyingSquid@lemmy.world avatar

I guarantee it will be on a site like Amazon eventually.

Edit: or now. shorturl.at/loU07

FigMcLargeHuge ,

I have emailed my local gamestore to see if he is going to pick up copies. I will get it from him if he picks some up. He has the Star Trek Adventure RPG books, so I am guessing he can add this to his next order.

robolemmy , (edited )
@robolemmy@lemmy.world avatar

Did you go to their main site or to the US one? Shipping from the EU/UK is outrageous but their domestic shipping is usually reasonable

Edit: Shipping from modiphius.us seems to be about $11.50, which is still high but quite a bit less than $37.

FigMcLargeHuge ,

Weird, I did the shipping calculator before the checkout and got that number, and I was on the en-us site. Maybe it’s just a bug.

robolemmy ,
@robolemmy@lemmy.world avatar

Do you maybe live in a wizard’s tower at the top of a weirdly tall, spindly mountain? That would explain it.

FigMcLargeHuge ,

LOL… I wish.

teft ,

Maybe it’s a Ferengi venture?

littlebluespark ,
@littlebluespark@lemmy.world avatar

Certainly more expensive than a PDF. 🤘🏽

sopelj ,
@sopelj@lemmings.sopelj.ca avatar

Yeah, shipping is insane especially if you don’t live in the US or the UK. If you have a local game store or one relatively nearby, it might be better to order from there. I bought most of mine from a local store and it was cheaper than the price on Modiphius’ US site and no shipping charge because I could go pick it up.

Season 2 Episode 7, Those Old Scientists. Looks like this photo was taken while they were shooting the scene where Spock, M’Benga, and Boimler were on the surface of Krulmuth B, investigating the Krulmuth B portal, one of my all time favorite portals, which threw Boimler back in time.

conditional_soup ,

I love that the end of this episode implies that everyone on lower decks is just really drunk all the time.

Infynis ,
@Infynis@midwest.social avatar

Well, could you pass up a real Orion Hurricane?

Squizzy , in Star Trek Behind-the-Scenes Pictures Thread

Jack Quaid was a guest star maybe 2 episodes so should narrow it down
