If the Republican Party and the Democratic Party want to propose and agree on some basic rules for discussion, that might be worth consideration.

It’s not gonna be perfect, because they can’t bind the public. But I can at least imagine there being a set of conventions for more civil public discourse that would improve the situation.

Fascists get shot, that’s how the whole fascism thing works. The only question is if its gonna be another fascist that pulls the trigger or someone else. THIS is what real human nature looks like. Survival of the fittest is a myth. The only survival that matters is survival of the species which is why two people have attempted to kill Trump by putting their own lives on the line.

They’re very different in frequency, too. The left only recently started with the fiery jabs whereas previously they were “above” making comments like that…it’s been the core of the republican playbook for awhile now

Actually, that’s easy.

It got this bad because our system is so warped and corrupt that most politicians can no longer even pretend to run on policies and principles. If they get elected, they’re going to do one and only one thing - they’re going to serve the interests of the wealthy individuals and corporations that pay them the fattest bribes. They obviously can’t run on a promise to do that, but they can’t promise to do anything else because they’re not going to do anything else. So they run on hatred and fear - they run on things like “ELECT US BECAUSE THE IMMIGRANTS ARE EATING YOUR PETS!!”

It really is just that simple.
