Nope, still won’t wear the cuck muzzle.

FlyingSquid ,
@FlyingSquid@lemmy.world avatar

Why don’t you just come out and say that you don’t care whether the elderly and the immunocompromised live or die?

frosch ,

This kind of emotional manipulation maybe works on bleeding heart cucks but not on me. I am not responsible for what a virus does.

Chozo ,

You're responsible for who you spread it to.

Also, calling people "cuck" in 2023, lmao

Too late

Spacemanspliff ,

True, but it’s clearly not bad enough that he realizes. I want him to feel the pain of not being able to remember his kids names right away, to have to count to four on his fingers. But keep just enough brain power to know he could have prevented it.

frosch ,

Well, because unlike you I am not a psychotic sadist, I wish you all the best. May you die at 99 with your mental faculties intact and lots of grandchildren.

Buffaloaf , (edited ) in Berlin Wall relic gets a 'second life' on US-Mexico border as Biden adds barriers

For anyone who likes podcasts, check out American Coyote. It’s about Elden Kidd who was famous for getting people across the border in creative ways.

Fun fact: Kidd was once on the show American Gladiator, where he listed his profession as “adventure travel guide”

Legolution ,

Thank you so much for this. Just read his story (this GQ.com article) and hitting the podcast, now. What a fucking mensch.

Moobythegoldensock , in Six officers known as the ‘Goon Squad’ plead guilty to torturing two Black men, using a sex toy on them and shooting one of them

Before reading: “Wow, what a sensationalist headline!”

After reading: “Somehow that headline underplayed it.”

hoch ,

The article doesn’t even mention that the shooting happened during a forced game of Russian roulette.

SpaceCowboy ,
@SpaceCowboy@lemmy.ca avatar

It kinda does, but it doesn’t make sense:

After removing a bullet from the chamber of his gun, Elward stuck a gun into Jenkins’ mouth and pulled the trigger. The gun clicked. Then he racked the slide, only this time, the gun fired a bullet

Usually Russian Roulette involves removing all of the bullets except one. This shitbag removed just one bullet. But most importantly, Russian Roulette is done with a revolver and the mention of a slide indicates it wasn’t a revolver.

So… I don’t know what happened here. Did this Elward shithead say he was going to do a Russian Roulette thing but didn’t understand how any of that works?

Especially_the_lies , in Children hit hardest by the pandemic are now the big kids at school. Many still need reading help

Teacher here. We had the opportunity to radically re-form schools during and after the pandemic. School systems instead chose to double-down on shit that hadn’t worked well before the pandemic.

Coffeemonkepants ,

What I’ve noticed with my partners 13 year old is how little is actually taught. During covid, he got daily lesson plans for home teaching which took a couple of hours at most. He’s been back in person now for 2 years. He gets no homework. He doesn’t seem to be taught or retain any kind of knowledge, yet his grades are ‘good’. Like, he can hardly tell you what countries make up North America, let alone where stares are or anything actually meaningful like history of… Anything. It seems to me the bar has just been lowered. We keep waiting for this to flip, or school to get ‘hard’ but it doesn’t seem to be.

amanneedsamaid ,

It seriously makes me consider becoming a cop, a job I would loathe, just to talk some sense into my coworkers.

candybrie ,

One of the reasons all cops are bastards is because good cops are severely punished.

sudo ,

The toxicity is self perpetuating. Anyone with a semblance of decency wouldn’t become a cop, so you just have more and more of these racist fascist assholes breeding more hatred and thugary. Any ‘good cop’ quickly realizes it’s a cesspool and leaves, or succumbs to the bastardization.

sturmblast , in Brigham Young University Adds Explicit Ban on 'Same-Sex Romantic Behavior' to Honor Code

sounds like discrimination to me

SCB ,

They’re a private religious college, for Mormons, so discrimination on these grounds is not illegal.

The Honor Code tells BYU students to live “a chaste and virtuous life, including abstaining from sexual relations outside marriage between a man and a woman.” With the new language, it notes that “living a chaste and virtuous life also includes abstaining from same-sex romantic behavior.”

Par for the course for their religious beliefs

Blamemeta , in Berlin Wall relic gets a 'second life' on US-Mexico border as Biden adds barriers

Of course Mexico wants open borders, they have drugs to run.

jmcs ,

Wouldn’t want anyone competing with the CIA’s operation, right? Or stop being xenophobic while we are at it.

Blamemeta ,

It is CIAs operation. Cartels own Mexico, CIA owns the Cartels.

Close the border, stop the flow, and criple the CIA.

Dadifer ,

Call me crazy, but I think there might be an easier way to control the CIA.

jmcs ,

Or even reducing the profitability of smuggling drugs by legalizing some of the most popular ones or something. But I guess then they would also lose the Jim Crow 2.0 and would need to come up with something else.

Diprount_Tomato ,
@Diprount_Tomato@lemmy.world avatar

And you think the cartels will just disappear just because you’ve given them concessions?

meeeeetch ,

If legal alternatives undercut their main income stream, yes, they’ll disappear. Or rather, they’ll fall apart as their resources become scarce and the ‘middle managers’ being cut out of the remaining money start fighting the higher ups and each other.

Ending alcohol prohibition didn’t strengthen the bootleggers. It put them out of business as Budweiser ate their lunch.

Diprount_Tomato ,
@Diprount_Tomato@lemmy.world avatar

What makes you think they won’t just sell their product legally?

jmcs ,

The fact that they (mostly) aren’t doing it with the drugs that are legal, should tell you why. And you already have precedent to know what happens when drugs get legalized - the Mafia is not selling bootlegged alcohol anymore.

Diprount_Tomato ,
@Diprount_Tomato@lemmy.world avatar

I’m pretty sure those cartels get money from a lot of places, even legal ones

meeeeetch ,

They’ll almost certainly try to (and some people who are currently involved may see some success). But they won’t have their de facto monopoly anymore. And these organizations are rife with internal corruption (shocking, I know); they aren’t being run efficiently.

Without their monopoly profits, they aren’t going to be able to afford the hit squads, the bribed law enforcement, or the silence of the people who know where the bodies are buried (often literally).

Crime won’t magically fall to zero overnight, but these organizations will not be having a good time.

Diprount_Tomato ,
@Diprount_Tomato@lemmy.world avatar

But you’re still giving them concessions while the population pays it just because you haven’t been able to deal with them properly

DistractedDev ,

You never will. People want drugs. Someone will always provide them. Might as well have some regulations.

meeeeetch ,

Ending the black market the cartel thrives in is the proper way to deal with them. Waging an endless ‘war’ on a vague concept that makes the most vicious cartel leaders fabulously wealthy is clearly not.

Now is there a particular reason that you’re playing devil’s strawman all over this thread?

Diprount_Tomato ,
@Diprount_Tomato@lemmy.world avatar

Yes, because drugs ruin entire countries

Studious_Gluteus ,

Businesses operating legally? Sounds like mission accomplished to me.

Diprount_Tomato ,
@Diprount_Tomato@lemmy.world avatar

Former mafias killing people legally? Sounds like hell

keeb420 ,

legal businesses dont engage in killing people, they just send lawyers after them to make them wish they were dead.

Diprount_Tomato ,
@Diprount_Tomato@lemmy.world avatar

If a legal business sells suicide pills to suicidal people they’re indirectly killing them

primalanimist ,
@primalanimist@kbin.social avatar

I want to help control the activities of the CIA. Hmm, I know, let's build a wall, that will certainly stop the CIA. If this was just about the CIA, we wouldn't be talking about building a wall because of just how stupid that sounds. The CIA can be stopped with a wall? They have the power to smuggle drugs into Mexico, to be sold in the US. You think they are going to let a wall stop them? LOL No, this has never been about stopping the CIA and more about political ideologies and wasting more taxpayer money on NOT the taxpayers.

FlyingSquid ,
@FlyingSquid@lemmy.world avatar

I’m pretty sure asylum seekers can even defeat a wall unless ladder technology hasn’t reached their country yet.

IzzyJ ,
@IzzyJ@lemmy.world avatar

They’ll just steal the wall. Literally, they pull pieces off of it

WhatAmLemmy ,

You think a wall will stop the CIA or cartels? You naive sweet summer child :P

cloaker ,

borders closed, supply shortens, prices rise and the only people who lose are addicts and the people who lose out due to addicts being left with no support.

zero_spelled_with_an_ecks ,

Lol, it’s like you’ve never heard of the Mafia.

cloaker ,

What is your point. All those who will be affected by a loss in supply will capitalise by increasing their profits. They literally never lose.

Kbobabob ,

Close the border, stop the flow

Bahahahahha. That’s a good one.

FlyingSquid ,
@FlyingSquid@lemmy.world avatar

Good thing there isn’t a second, huge, undefended border on the other side of the United States that smugglers could easily use if they wanted to.

TheJims ,

What a fucking joke.

Diprount_Tomato ,
@Diprount_Tomato@lemmy.world avatar

Mexico doesn’t, the cartels (that are taking over the country) do

TheJims ,

Walls can’t even keep drugs out of prisons.

gregorum ,

Draedron ,

underisk , in Fauci on masks: people should take risks into account
@underisk@lemmy.ml avatar

Oh look the same wishy washy bullshit he did at the start of the pandemic that everyone forgot about.

harpuajim ,

What’s wishy washing about advising people to listen to health experts?

underisk ,
@underisk@lemmy.ml avatar

Health experts would tell you to wear a mask because it costs you nothing, not to do whatever you feel is best.

FlyingSquid ,
@FlyingSquid@lemmy.world avatar

Not nothing. Proper N95s are a cost some people can’t afford. But even a cloth mask is better than no mask.

OrangeJoe ,

You mean when they were telling people not to wear masks so that they could ensure there was enough supply for healthcare workers? And then changed to say we should all be wearing them once supplying them to healthcare workers was no longer an issue? That “wishy washy bullshit”?

That’s not being wishy washy, that’s making the best recommendations at the time based on the situation not just of the disease, but practical factors too.

underisk ,
@underisk@lemmy.ml avatar

That was only N95 masks which are the ideal ones to use but not even close to the ones a majority of people used even after the mandate. Telling people not to mask at all is not the same thing as saying “use cloth masks so that n95 masks can be preserved for healthcare workers”.

5BC2E7 , (edited )

They weren’t telling people not ti wear masks they were telling people that they didn’t need to wear them and had no effect. He made groundless statements because they wanted to ensure there was enough supply for healthcare workers. Then they started saying that they actually work and we must wear them.

Personally I do think they can help. But the government has been consistently dishonest. It’s not difficult to see how people won’t believe a known liar.

EDIT: for those that have a hard time accepting facts. here is a video that quotes fauci then an now confirming my points www.youtube.com/watch?v=l5FY58I5RQ0
