Thereâs no ârightâ answer to the trolley problem. But there are definitely wrong ones.
I was talking about this with someone today, and pondering what would happen if a private Ukrainian citizen had decided to deliberately fuck up an American military action, and what the American response would be.
The closest I could think of was Julian Assange, a non-US citizen who leaked a bunch of US military info and probably somewhat fucked up whatever they were up to at the time, or at least drew more attention to it than they would have liked. Theyâre currently trying to extradite him to the US for âconspiracy to commit computer intrusionâ and who knows what theyâll do to him when that inevitably gets pushed through. I guess Chelsea Manningâs treatment is probably some indicator for that too.
So anyway, I expect Elon Musk will probably be extradited to Ukraine and spend a year or so in solitary confinement there right away. Maybe hide in an embassy for a few years first?
I agree, thereâs probably a tape, but I think thereâs more than pissing going on in it.
At this point if thereâs a tape of a prostitute peeing on Musk in a Moscow hotel room, it wouldnât be anything shocking or damage his reputation all that much beyond what heâs done to himself already. I think if there is a tape, itâs gotta be something really fucked up.

People need to learn to use the toilets at the airport BEFORE boarding a plane. Obviously there are not enough toilets on a plane. Donât put yourself in that position.
I totally agree. I fucking HATE when Iâm on an hour to two hour flight and people around me are getting up multiple times to go. Fuck. Off. Use the bathroom before you get on the plane and hold it until we land. Iâm trying to nap and I donât want the back of my seat bumped around or have people trying to get past me. Iâve only used the bathroom on long ass flights. Medical issues aside, you can hold it, assholes.

This is about the most wasteful product Iâve ever encountered. You wrap one chip in plastic to keep it fresh and then throw cardboard around it with tons of empty space and then ship those on trucks?! What the fuck.
I support killing this product on its environmental harm whether itâs implicated in the teenâs death or not.
Eh. It is no different than a lot of snack packages. Wrap each serving/couple servings in plastic and then put it in a bag or a box. It is egregious because it is a single chip. But that is one âservingâ of the chip.
Of all the things wrong with these kinds of products, the packaging seems fine. Plastic for freshness, cardboard for durability.
That said, it very much brings to mind the futurama gag where the cookies and the creme are all individually wrapped to eat oreos. But this is not that.
One of my favorite bits from Futurama is when Fry is using some âmake your own Oreo cookieâ device that has individually wrapped cookies and individually wrapped cream, so heâd open each one, toss the plastic, smush them together just to take them apart like some people do with Oreos.

Tbf I would assume thereâs not much volume being sold, considering itâs definitely at most a serving being packaged. Afaik nobody is out there buying a handful of these to eat as a snack.
EDIT: based on the other comments, it seems like the average consumer buys at most one of these in their lifetime, haha.
Yeah, this sounds like a case where if they packaged it like other chips, it would just mean instead of throwing out a small amount of plastic per chip eaten, youâre throwing out a chip bag worth of plastic along with most of the other chips after you and maybe some friends take one.
Itâs like buying the bigger size thatâs slightly more expensive only to realize it would have been cheaper to buy the smaller one because the extra stuff got thrown out after it went bad plus thereâs extra packaging, even if the value per unit is worse.
On a âplastic per caloriesâ scale this is very wasteful indeed. But actually it is not just a chip, its more of an activity being sold. Other activities are much worse resource-wise. Some people go skydiving, others eat a chip at home.
Yeah, itâs not actually a food. Nobody eats these for the taste or calories. Itâs purely for the experience of the challenge and the packaging is understandably part of that experience. Itâs still wasteful, but itâs the kind of society we live in. Packaging works. If they could sell as well with less waste, Iâm sure they would. The packaging is a calculated attempt at maximizing the experience, especially under the assumption that itâs going to spread by viral videos.
the charges were recommended by the grand jury, and justified, but never levied. but there are no indictments coming from the prosecutor. these were three of the individuals who absolutely committed criminal acts in furtherance of election tampering, and who aren't going to be held accountable, which is why it's a missed opportunity. we know they did the dirt, they're guilty as fuck, but they're not going to go to trial. that's howso.
