The Texas state government stepping in and quashing a new university journalism department that would have been headed by an award-winning investigative journalist is very on-brand, given how many scandals the state produces in a given year.
It’s funny-sad to me that Taft was known for being obese, but compared to modern people, if you saw him on the street today, you wouldn’t even think twice.
It looks like it’s really uncomfortable though. I saw an older guy shaped like that in line at the bank the other day. He kept squatting down to rest each time the line advanced. It was odd to see someone squatting at the bank and odd to see an old man so able to squat and get up from a squat, but his body shape made it make sense.
Compared to other people of the day, he was pretty large, though not morbidly obese. It’s really a comment on modern people that this is considered slightly larger than usual.
Even there he looks fatter than he is due to the old-timey way of pulling your waistband over the belly, rather than letting it all hang down like a big meat apron.
As much as I despise the fat man and his tribe I can tell you did not read the news. It’s personal in nature it’s an ex-student of that school a Jewish person himself.
why would being jewish mean you vote for him, a majority of jews lean democrat and about half claim their political views to be liberal (according to pew research). a majority of jews also disapprove of trump. are you just trying to be racist?
Okay but he’s implying that because they’re Jewish, they would have voted for Trump. Which is more uncommon than not. It happens, but he’s saying that as a group Jews surely do it.
Article says he was driving a Dodge Ram when he was pulled over and shot. Maybe it’s because I live in California, but I don’t know any Dodge Ram drivers that didn’t vote for trump.
The problem is that if you get caught you can be charged a federal crime instead of with a state crime.
Federal crimes include mandatory minimum sentences/jail time in addition to fines.
Believe me, I have thought about making the trip elsewhere since my state will be the last to ever legalize. The closest legal place is 2.5 hours from my house.
Me getting caught would screw up multiple lives including my own, however. Instead, I have to settle for the poor man’s stuff (delta8, delta9, etc) and only get the real stuff when I travel. The poor man’s stuff helps a medical condition I have, but is nothing like the real thing.
I’ve had good results, but it’s really come down to finding a reliable place to buy and a good brand. Personally have been using Mellow Fellow’s carts, and they’ve been the best I’ve had outside of actual weed.
Flower has been harder, admittedly. Knew of one place that had really quality stuff, but they’re pretty much going out of business now and there’s currently no news about what’s being done with their farm.
I’ve tried all of their 4Mg dual-packs. The Picasso and Euphoria stuff. All of them are great combinations, either for swapping off mid session, or if you’re getting burnt out on the one you have running.
That will last me ~3 weeks, give or take a couple days.
We should legalize it federally and then only allow commercial growing in the states that have already legalized it. Dont let them boost their tax haul for something they decided they didnt like.
Funny considering the woman is an alcoholic drunk driver.
Even the medical ones for cataracts and arthritis are out. In Iowa, you can only have pot if you currently have cancer and/or are dying. That’s not completely true, but it is only for the most extreme medical conditions.
You think it’s weird in Iowa? Try Wisconsin! Literally every state it touches now has legal weed except for the tiny bit of Iowa we touch in the corner. Illinois, Minnesota, Michigan. All now have legal weed. But I still see the news reports in Wisconsin about “criminals” being caught with weed. It’s insane.
I heard huffing road salt can give you a pretty good high and there should be no shortage of it around Iowa. Also, boofing freshly shucked corn is supposed to induce quite the euphoric experience. You’re not completely out of options in rural Iowa.
This ancient Iowan practice is actually the origin of the game “corn hole.” Back in the day people used to compete to see who could get the most cobs down their friend’s hole. Whoever got the most won that year’s prized dairy cow.
I don’t think you can call people renters if they haven’t been paying their rent since the start of the pandemic. At some point they’re just squatters.
~40 months without paying rent has to be baller though, i’d have enough for a down payment of a home no problem.
The Center for Countering Digital Hate has published several pieces of research that have been critical of Musk’s social-media company. One study published in June said Twitter had taken no action against 99% of 100 posts that the researchers said contained hateful content.
…
In the lawsuit, Musk’s company accuses the Center for Countering Digital Hate of improperly accessing data from X’s platform by scraping and by improperly obtaining login credentials to a database operated by a vendor. The suit seeks a jury trial, monetary damages and a prohibition on the group and its employees accessing certain data related to the X platform.
Police say they became aware of the 45-year-old Gold Coast childcare worker’s alleged offending after recently identifying video discovered on the dark web in 2014.
He was arrested in August 2022, with police then allegedly discovering a hard drive filled with child abuse material of young girls while executing warrants at his home and other addresses.
Adults 21 and older can possess and travel in the state with 2 ounces of cannabis flower, 8 grams of concentrate and 800 milligrams worth of THC-containing edible products such as gummies and seltzers. They can have up to 2 pounds of cannabis flower at home.
Low-potency edibles made with THC from industrial hemp were legalized last year. They’ve been subject to a 10% marijuana tax since July 1. That tax will apply to other marijuana products as they become licensed for sales, but not on sovereign tribal lands.
No need for a PhD from a prestigious university, a lengthy career in the Air Force piloting highly dangerous experimental airplanes, followed by many years of training to become the best of the best and make it as an astronaut. You can just walk into your local dispensary, buy $160 worth of edibles (not forgetting to tip your budtender, of course), chow down on a metric shit load of gummies, and be on the moon in no time!*
800 milligrams worth of THC-containing edible products
That’s different from “800 mg of THC in edible products”. You can have 800 mg of THC in 100 g of THC-containing edibles. The way it’s written in the law matters a lot. If it’s written like above, edibles are basically illegal.
I think that is just how the article described it.
The actual bill says:
…possess or transport edible cannabis products or lower-potency hemp edibles infused with a combined total of 800 milligrams or less of tetrahydrocannabinol
Your point is further bolstered by the fact that many departments weigh the entire product when charging people with possession. Your 1lb tub of bud butter may only contain 1g of THC but they’re going to charge you with possession of 1lb of concentrates.
I’m just picturing all the stories of people “accidentally” eating an entire 100 mg chocolate bar after being unable to wait an hour for it to kick in, and then imagine those schmucks taking 8x that dose.
SPACECOM is a unified command that has its origins in the 1980s. It is entirely necessary and handles real things including military satellites and missile defense.
B) Space Force isn’t anything new. It is doing the same projects it was doing under the Air Force, with the same budget it had under the Air Force, with mostly the same officers/leadership it had under the Air Force.
C) You can debate about whether a trillion dollar defense industry is ridiculous. That’s valid. But if you assume we need a defense industry that large, then the work the Space Force does (again, which hasn’t changed since it was the Air Force) is absolutely necessary in the modern era.
