Boomers are the largest private owners of homes, even more than actual corporations that are actively buying and raising housing prices in order to pad their books.
The only way out of this is a financial collapse and that will end up killing millions before the market actually reaches a reasonable price and rate. I don’t want this but this seems to be the direction the current macroeconomic conditions are heading.
2024-2028 are going to be some of the most shitty years in human history

I doubt that. Compare your modern life of general comfort to the lives that human beings lived just 200 years ago. I’d much rather live in 2024 America than 1800s America.
Do you know how to hunt, fish, farm, and prepare all of your own food and shelter? If not, you’d better hope to stay in modern times.
Seriously, people literally do not realize how good life is because all they know is complaining about what’s not perfect.
Having electricity, running water, toilets, access to just about any information in the world with the Internet… all that you take for granted. They did not have most of our modern amenities for the vast majority of human history before our modern times. Life was a fucking brutal struggle for survival for much more of humanity then than it is now.
Yea, and I’m making the case that we’re heading back there or worse, given the macroeconomic outlook and the overall failing of the regulatory bodies responsible for the banking industries globally.
Seems fitting, it’s the roaring 20s again. We’re going to be building up to the faithful days of the 2029 market crash. This time with real serious dumpster diving. You talk about finding half a burger and climbing into one of these things next to a tall building… Nah, think 50 floor diving in right on the burger, lid closed or open, head first. Yeah, it’s building up!
This isn’t the ‘Boomers’ fault. It’s large corporate property portfolios vacuuming up houses and land to take in the lovely extortion… uh…‘rent’ monies.
Is there any source corroborating this story? No offence but I’ve never heard of this “Hell Gate NYC” reporting commune and there is basically nothing about it online.
Lots of places reported on the NYPD’s move to shut down the old office journalists had within the station that started all this (for example, here’s the NY Daily News rounding up a bunch of local papers’ reactions), but I haven’t been able to find anyone else talking about the contract journalists have to sign to use the new one, so I think this might just be too small scale to get very much coverage.
Fwiw, this story has been up a couple of days now and includes a link to a copy of a letter signed with an NYPD department name and email/phone number, if that was a straight up forgery I really think someone would have forced them to take it down by now (or at least issued some kind of statement saying that this isn’t NYPD policy)
