555_1 , in Texas adopts guidance for how doctors should interpret abortion ban

Don’t tread on my… oh, by all means, tread on my body.

some_guy , in Utah invokes sovereignty to ignore Biden admin’s Title IX transgender protections

Try fighting a civil war now, red states. See how far you get against contemporary weapons.

bradorsomething ,

Everyone who clamors for war has never experienced one. We’ve had peace for so long they don’t know what war means.

some_guy ,

I don’t clamor for war. Quite the opposite. I merely pointed out that the desire of accelerationists for civil war is poorly considered when faced with the reality of the USA’s contemporary armed forces in my own sarcastic way.

Praetorian , in 'It's inhumane.' Despite how hot it is, Tennessee renters don't have a right to air conditioning

As an American you don’t have a right to universal healthcare and you’re worried about air conditioning?

Fidel_Cashflow ,
@Fidel_Cashflow@lemmy.ml avatar

Multiple things can be bad at the same time

HauntedCupcake ,

This is also a lot more achievable than total healthcare reform. Both are achievable for sure, but just forcing landlords to install and maintain aircon is easier

Praetorian ,

Sure except air conditioning is not a right. It’s a luxury.

MeekerThanBeaker , in California to become third state to mandate heat protections for indoor workers

That pic could very well be indoors, but it looks outside to me. Could’ve chose a better one.

jeffw , in Black Voters in This City Could Determine 2024. And It’s Not Looking Good for Biden.
@jeffw@lemmy.world avatar

You gotta figure the RNC isn’t 100% idiots. There is, I assume, a reason they picked Milwaulkee for the convention

return2ozma OP ,
@return2ozma@lemmy.world avatar

I mean, they’re not 100% idiots but sometimes it’s easy to court voters…

Trump courts rappers as surrogates for his campaign to win more voters of color

From Lil Wayne to Sexyy Red, Trump is getting support from a bevy of rappers as he seeks to court young, Black voters.

nbcnews.com/…/trump-courts-rappers-surrogates-cam…

Sadly, this will sway some voters.

Kongpiler , in The Ten Commandments must be displayed in Louisiana classrooms under requirement signed into law

Sounds like something The Satanic Temple may have an issue with.

stoly , in Kyle Rittenhouse's family plead for money as they face eviction

I’m honestly shocked that they aren’t rolling in cash. I’d have thought that a whole lot of money got sent to Kyle directly after he became famous.

YurkshireLad ,

He took it all.

stoly ,

That, somehow, is unsurprising.

pearsaltchocolatebar ,

Their complaint is that he isn’t sharing it.

stoly ,

Dang, it’s what happens when you read between emails. I missed the part that he wasn’t sharing.

Warp10Lizard , in Jeff Landry signs bill allowing surgical castration of some sex offenders

Aside from a back alley, where do you find a doctor to perform this?

bradorsomething , in Kyle Rittenhouse's family plead for money as they face eviction

Let them eat coffee.

Xanis , in The Ten Commandments must be displayed in Louisiana classrooms under requirement signed into law

I can’t read it atm. Is there a size requirement?

Language requirement?

Does it HAVE to be readable?

Cause woo are my malicious compliance human mandibles quivering.

Hawk ,

" a poster-sized display of the Ten Commandments in “large, easily readable font” in all public classrooms, from kindergarten to state-funded universities. "

PyroNeurosis ,

Put the poster up backwards?

raspberriesareyummy ,

Language requirement?

👆

If not - put them up in Esperanto :*)

Fedizen ,

historically they’re in hebrew, not english and the hebrew version is inarguably both more historical and more accurate

raspberriesareyummy ,

to me, that clearly sounds like the best way to do it. ^^

Treczoks , in Texas doctor charged for leaking health records of transgender kids to far-right extremist

Lets hope they put him behind bars for child endangerment in lots of cases, and shred his GP licence as a bonus.

gramie , in Spectrum Call Center in Charlotte, NC Reportedly Provided Fried Chicken and Watermelon to Employees for Juneteenth

Is it possible they ask the employees what food they wished to be served on that day? And the ones who are complaining were a minority who didn’t want it?

It’s equally possible that they didn’t consult employees and just didn’t something that they thought was appropriate.

It’s not clear how it happened.

n3m37h , in OceanGate co-founder organising trip to one of world’s deepest sinkholes a year after Titan disaster

Can ya fit a few more billionares in there this time?

raoulraoul , in Donald Sutherland dies aged 88

“I won’t go schizo, will I?”

“It’s a distinct possibility.”

HurlingDurling , in Home price inflation is so high, it's changing American economic life
@HurlingDurling@lemmy.world avatar

Goverment controlled pricing would definitely help. Tie the price of homes to be no more than 5-10% of the tax value. If you really want to sell a home for 1 million, then pay a property tax close to that.
