some_guy , in Murder conviction remains reinstated for Adnan Syed in ‘Serial’ case as court orders new hearing

“This case exists as a procedural zombie,” Hotten wrote. “It has been reanimated, despite its expiration. The doctrine of mootness was designed to prevent such judicial necromancy.”

This judge is awesome.

dsilverz , in Donald Trump threatens to imprison Mark Zuckerburg for 'rest of his life' if 'he does anything illegal' over election
@dsilverz@thelemmy.club avatar

Simultaneously, a Brazilian judge is threatening Musk. The judge even seized the Starlink’s local accounts (g1.globo.com/…/na-falta-de-representante-da-x-no-…) in order to enforce fines against Musk. I’m not entering the merit of the matter, but it’s curious the pattern.

realcaseyrollins OP ,

It’s not surprising though. During election season, interested parties both for and against censorship and election interference get more vocal and forceful on the matter.

itsgroundhogdayagain , in ‘Could Have Been The Parents’: Trump Tries to Shift Blame For Campaigning At Arlington Scandal, Claims Was a ‘Setup’

Yes, curse those grieving families! Always trying to set up campaigning politicians and their cameras who just randomly show up to Arlington.

Melatonin , in ‘Could Have Been The Parents’: Trump Tries to Shift Blame For Campaigning At Arlington Scandal, Claims Was a ‘Setup’

He’s blaming the parents of dead soldiers.

What a loser.

Atelopus-zeteki ,

Let's make certain that he loses.

CluckN ,

Good luck, Lemmy is full of American Conservatives.

Atelopus-zeteki ,

It doesn't matter who you think they are; what matters is how US citizens vote.

FlyingSquid OP ,
@FlyingSquid@lemmy.world avatar

Is it though?

Eldritch ,

Yeah like wait a minute, hold up. How the heck do you define conservative to come to that conclusion? I mean unless you’ve so radicalized yourself that everyone that disagrees with you, you perceive as whatever boogyman you’ve created.

otp ,

Good luck, Lemmy is full of American Conservatives.

Lol…what? Is this a joke?

Do you not know what lemmy.ml (the original instance) is? Lol

TransplantedSconie ,

Wait until the death threats start rolling in! Then they will understand the Trump Reverse Midas Touch apon their lives.

folekaule , in Donald Trump threatens to imprison Mark Zuckerburg for 'rest of his life' if 'he does anything illegal' over election

Sounds like great incentive for Zuck to do everything in his power to make sure Trump doesn’t get reelected.

haunte ,

I’m beginning to think this Trump guy doesn’t think things through…

realcaseyrollins OP ,

Why? Is he breaking the law?

Veedem , in ‘Could Have Been The Parents’: Trump Tries to Shift Blame For Campaigning At Arlington Scandal, Claims Was a ‘Setup’
@Veedem@lemmy.world avatar

Biden got called out for rambling all the time (and it was pretty fair, to be honest). Why are Trump’s ramblings and non sequiturs not equally highlighted? The guy speaks like he’s reading a scrabble board.

NABDad ,

Because Trump’s been an idiot all along. With Biden there was a decline, so they could claim he was no longer competent. Trump was never competent, so any decline doesn’t really matter much.

barsquid ,

Oh, that’s due to journalistic bankruptcy.

FlyingSquid OP ,
@FlyingSquid@lemmy.world avatar

Didn’t you hear?

Trump doesn’t ramble.

mediaite.com/…/rambling-trump-rally-crowd-listens…

einlander , in ‘Could Have Been The Parents’: Trump Tries to Shift Blame For Campaigning At Arlington Scandal, Claims Was a ‘Setup’

That didn’t happen. And if it did, it wasn’t that bad. And if it was, that’s not a big deal. And if it is, that’s not my fault. And if it was, I didn’t mean it. And if I did, you deserved it.

The Narcissist’s Prayer

Everyone is thinking of it.

Rentlar , in ‘Could Have Been The Parents’: Trump Tries to Shift Blame For Campaigning At Arlington Scandal, Claims Was a ‘Setup’

He really needs to blame Speaker Mike fucking Johnson if there was someone who set this up for him…

DaCrazyJamez , in Federal court: TikTok may be liable for a 10-year-old's death

I hate to take Tik Toks side in anything, but in this case I dont think they should be liable. A kid made a dumb choice based on a stupid video…but even if it showed up in a feed, Tik Tok didnt e courage the behavior.

This one is a sad case of darwinism.

Diplomjodler3 ,

Wrong. Children are being shown these videos in the name of “engagement”, i.e. in order to maximise profits. That is the main problem with oligopolistic social media platforms. It’s the algorithms that are destroying society.

bokherif , in Montana doctor overprescribed meds and overbilled health care to pad his income, prosecutors say

Oh no! This must be the first ever case of this ever happening!

BrokenGlepnir , in ‘Could Have Been The Parents’: Trump Tries to Shift Blame For Campaigning At Arlington Scandal, Claims Was a ‘Setup’

He’s not responsible for what his campaign puts out apparently. Beyond that, if he keeps getting pressed and he digs into blaming the family I’d like to see their faces when they continue to support him and deny the reality of the world.

memfree , in 'Ants are everywhere': Labour MP's tenants reveal state of flats
@memfree@lemmy.ml avatar

I saw ‘ants are everywhere’ and thought it was going to be a nature story about the secret lives of ants – something like this: scienceblogs.com/…/weekend-diversion-down-the-ant…

The actual story was a much sadder read. :-(

n3m37h , in Trump Tries to Move Hush-Money Case to Federal Court Before Sentencing

Lock him up!

Got_Bent , in Texas megachurch faces exodus of worshippers after a sex abuse scandal set off a summer of turmoil

I used to work at a place where several partners were members of this church. The open disdain directed toward me for not being a churchgoer and the ostracization the occurred were a significant factor of my decision to leave.

After I left, one of the partners harassed me for several years via phone calls, text messages, and hand written letters mailed to my home trying to get me to turn my heathen ways around.

One of those letters said something asking the lines that while I had chosen eternal damnation for myself, I owed an opportunity of salvation to my daughter, so I needed to bring her to this church.

I don’t remember how many years this continued, but it finally stopped.

The hell is the matter with these people?
