Legalize hunting racists

Samvega ,

We need to invent shame paint balls that cause the person hit to reassess their lack of compassion for other living beings.

That’s a surprisingly interesting idea!

AbouBenAdhem , in Elon Musk has voted by mail despite attacking the option ‘insane,’ records show

He means it’s insane that ordinary people can vote as easily as he can.

givesomefucks , in No Ban on Fracking: Kamala Harris Doubles Down on Fossil Fuels

She cast the tie breaking vote to expand fracking leases as VP…

I don’t know why people thought she’d try to ban it as president, record breaking fossil fuels production under Biden is what’s propping up “the economy”

jjjalljs , in X caught blocking links to NPR, claiming the news site may be 'unsafe'

If everyone could just delete Twitter, that’d be great. I don’t get how people just prioritize “there are good memes sometimes” over staying out of the metaphorical Nazi bar.

stoly ,

Fear of missing out is probably a huge driver here.

ripcord ,
@ripcord@lemmy.world avatar

I keep hearing “it is the only way for me to get critical weather updates in my area!” which at least would be better than being addicted to memes, but still seems to me like a shitty or bogus and/or ssuper rare reason.

jjjalljs ,

Aren’t there like a dozen weather apps?

Trying to be charitable, I’m guessing for some countries there aren’t a lot of good sources. Maybe?

Definitely in the US and Europe there are a billion sources.

criss_cross ,

It spent a lot or time carving its place for quick news updates and getting people off platforms is surprisingly hard.

I don’t use it anymore but it’s hard not to inadvertently find a news article that links to it.

homesweethomeMrL , in Officials probe death of Wells Fargo employee found in her cubicle 4 days after last scanning into work

So …

We have

  • drill baby drill
  • Build a Wall and secure the border!
  • do genocide
  • fund the police

And

  • fund the military to make it the “most lethal” in the world…

Trump V Trump sure is looking to be a fun one.

Hello, fellow citizen, and welcome to the time-honored tradition of “Bread & Circuses”! 🥳 I can see you’re new here and having some difficulty with the minutiae of this season’s hottest event, and I’d like to offer some guidance:

It’s turtles all the way down. 😅💩🤷🏼‍♂️

Hold on tight, and keep your limbs inside the vehicle.

From the party of personal responsibility.

DogPeePoo ,

Seriously.

So why did a member of your campaign put hands on a member of the military and argue and shove them ???

Where the fuck is the journalism?! 😠😡😡

qjkxbmwvz , in Elon Musk has voted by mail despite attacking the option ‘insane,’ records show

California has optional mail ballots for everyone. Can’t imagine voting without it — I can fill out my ballot at my leisure, researching measures when I have time. No need to remember anything or make a cheat sheet for election day. And no standing in line.

stoly ,

In Washington it’s required. No polling locations except a couple headquarters locations where you can submit provisional ballots and such if there’s something last moment that comes up.

sparky ,
@sparky@lemmy.federate.cc avatar

This is especially necessary in California due to the ballot proposition thing. For those unfamiliar, California lets citizens put new laws on the ballot if they collect enough signatures. So each year the ballot there can be dozens and dozens of pages as you read through each of these somewhat lengthy measures. It takes ages in the voting booth, so doing so by mail is way better.

probably “the parents”

I swear he manages to talk for hours and never actually say anything…

lettruthout ,

Yeah. When will a journalist call him out on this? Maybe ask pointed questions? Ask for clarification? Call out his rambling?

SGforce ,

Journalists do occasionally, but it usually gets buried real fast since the “liberal media” wants him to appear not totally unhinged for reasons like being “unbiased” and maintaining a friendly relationship with billionaires.

The person in the article kind of does this a little bit but just seems to give up after the third or fourth non answer

TheDudeV2 OP , in Murder conviction remains reinstated for Adnan Syed in ‘Serial’ case as court orders new hearing

I don’t really have an opinion on this case (in terms of Syed’s guilt or innocence), but it all just seems like such a shit show. If this guy is innocent he’s been repeatedly screwed by the system.

girlfreddy ,
@girlfreddy@lemmy.ca avatar

The evidence (or lack thereof) seems to indicate he’s innocent, but I wholeheartely disagree that the victim’s family should have any say whether or not a case is dismissed (or vacated) because the prosecution and/or cops fucked up.

Facts are facts and should never be influenced by opinion.

CileTheSane ,
@CileTheSane@lemmy.ca avatar

Everyone here has been screwed by the system.

If Syed’s guilty the family of the victim has been screwed by this shitshow, the back and forth of verdicts, the fallout of the podcast…

If Syed’s innocent the family of the victim has been screwed for all the same reasons as well as the police no longer investing the case because they “caught the guy”.

Llamajockey , in No Ban on Fracking: Kamala Harris Doubles Down on Fossil Fuels

Wtf is she doing killing her chances after a great start.

Antmz22 ,

What she’s doing is being a right winger. Idk why people are always so surprised when the right wingers they elect and support do right wing things.

stoly , in Elon Musk has voted by mail despite attacking the option ‘insane,’ records show

TIL that Elon musk must have become a US citizen at some point. Or are we talking about South Africa elections?

FlyingSquid OP ,
@FlyingSquid@lemmy.world avatar

Yes, he gained US Citizenship, as the article says.
