As much as either party has expressed the desire to keep mics on, and as much as I would love to see Harris also tell Trump to shut up or scold him with “I’m speaking,” I think it’s essential. It’s true that Trump doesn’t know when to shut up, and that would likely work against him. However, he also knows damn well that his people would see him talking over Harris as putting her in her place. Any opportunity to make her looks weak, he’s gonna take… Muting mics is the best way to keep his ass in check.
I agree generally, but I think the debates mainly help the undecided, who aren’t going to automatically think well of Trumps constantly talking over her. Probably still best for maintaining general state of decorum and sanity. But Harris has a good reason to want Trump to talk himself into a corner.
Debates are stupid. They are never about actual policy nor are they ever about the truth, but merely who can score the most points against their opponent.

The guy’s 59, he’s been in prison for most of his adult life. He likely has no house, no savings, no family. While it’s obviously great that he was released, he ought to be given a sizable pension for the rest of his life at the very least… I don’t know what actually happens in cases like this, but if he’s just released without being given some kind of major compensation for the wrongful imprisonment, the injustice isn’t being corrected at all.
TBF though, US use of force has been underreported and lacked nationwide statistics for most of the previous decades. If I’m not mistaken, one of the federal agencies who attempted to track it stopped giving annual reports in 2017? Idk I’m kind of fuzzy about that.
I read the article and I think you paint just as an inaccurate picture. His colleagues went ahead without him. They friggin left him behind. They told him he was going the wrong way via messaging. It’s not like he insisted they were wrong as they are telling him to his face he was going the wrong way.
The article doesn’t say why they went ahead of him and no one stayed behind, so we can only speculate and hope that that level of carelessness was actually warranted.
Honestly, those families of fallen soldiers can go fuck themselves. They dishonor the memory of their children that made the ultimate sacrifice for this country. They don’t get to invite Trump to wipe his ass all over the graves of soldiers. Their children deserve respect, but they deserve scorn.
This was my thought as well. Can you really have loved your family member if you sell them cheaply to be used as political fodder? Is that what their memory is worth to you?

Ok, I’m not going to debate that with you. I don’t know these kids, their motivations, their missions, or how they lived and died. I’m talking about every body laid to rest in Arlington, and far too many that still lay where they fell, all of the soldiers, living and dead, are deserving of a certain modicum of reapect. They deserve to not be used as props in a campaign photo. Their families deserve to not see their tombstones used as an arm rest in a photo op.
