IAmTheZeke , in Some European Cities Are Rebelling Against Overtourism

Eh. A good tourism strategy benefits tourism and the local people. If it’s annoying them this much - tourism needs to change.

So will the city make changes? Or will the people make sure no one wants to visit?

Siethron , in Ford joins list of companies walking back DEI policies

DEI stands for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

IAmTheZeke , in Dollar General shares crater 20% as retailer cuts outlook, blaming ‘financially constrained’ customers

Fucking DG. they are a nuisance. They should give near total franchises. Let local people own and manage stores. Allow them to set wages, ect. DG limits wages and staffing. Currently the biggest thing holding back DG is the system that got them this far… People need money to spend it.

I wish the law got rewritten for companies so that it’s more of revenue + assets of the top level execs personally + the company as well. I know it isn’t going to happen, but I could dream.

Doom4535 ,

Honestly executives and board members who receive performance bonuses and golden parachutes should carry extra liability, such that these perks can be denied or even clawed back (and used to help the damages) when their decisions have these sort of outcomes. Nothing wrong with making more when things go well, but if you’re going to take a larger piece of the pie, then you need to be prepared to take a smaller piece when things go wrong (aka, cut executive pay before layoffs, etc.).

realcaseyrollins OP ,

TBF fines do more than that, they tank stock value if the company is publicly traded. That makes stockholders mad at the corporate leadership and threatens their jobs.

homesweethomeMrL , in US Army speaks out against Trump

Trump spokesperson Steven Cheung

This fuckin’ guy. Keep digging up Steve.

haunte ,

I know it’s his job to spin negatives into positives and attack Trumps opponents, but he just comes off as a particularly nasty internet troll every time he opens his mouth. Goebbels by way of 4chan.

stoly , in Judge Rules $400 Million Algorithmic System Illegally Denied Thousands of People’s Medicaid Benefits

So they spent $400m to save money? How many decades until they break even? Imagine what good that money could have done.

SpaceNoodle ,

I’m sure they’re bilking patients out of hundreds of millions a year with that “investment.”

unreliable , in Brazil top court threatens to suspend X operations in latest twist of ongoing feud

The closed accounts were a result of legal process over hate and misinformation. Don’t like, go into Brazil judicial system. Twitter is not in position to decide what Brazilian law to follow or not. More that happy to see this ban here. Twitter is becoming a far right tool anyway. Brazil is a big country, one more cut for twitter income that is already struggling as advertisers are moving away from the company (see Lawsuit Against Companies Who Have Stopped Advertising on the X).

Win win.

maniii , in Salmon will soon swim freely in the Klamath River for first time in a century once dams are removed

Aren’t there specific “Fish runs” and “Salmon runs” purposefully built to help fish migrate upstream ? Seems strange that ecological man-made structures would have been completely neglected during the entirety of the construction and management of the river(s).
