Can I adopt JD Vance’s kid? Not because I particularly want to raise a child, but because that early enthusiasm shouldn’t be snuffed out by Vance, especially not when he’s talking to someone about whom he says:
“I’m a Never Trump guy.”
“My god, what an idiot.”
“America’s Hitler”
“Mr. Trump is unfit for our nation’s highest office.”
“I can’t stomach Trump.”
I agree with J. D. Vance’s factual quotes, but not his political ambition, which apparently caused him to reverse-course on all that and bend the knee. My personal conspiracy theory is Trump chose him as VP Nominee because that enables Trump to humiliate Vance with his past comments and current subservience. He’s just that petty. I hope he loses the election because of it…
I’ve never understood this pushback against immigration. It seems to me that the bottom line is this: big countries are more powerful than small countries.
That’s why China makes people genuinely worried, but the Philippines (which has a government that’s just as scary) doesn’t really seem to concern people. But to return to my point, big countries are more powerful and “big” in this context is really a measure of economy. And one major driver of economy is population. The more people we have, the more productive we are, and the more powerful we are. If you truly want to make America great, invite everyone in, give them the means to get started and let the country reap all the lasting benefits.
If you’re not willing to help America grow, then I’ve got news for you, you aren’t making America great at all, you’re restricting it, you’re sealing it in a box and limiting its growth. You’re the problem.
Ironically, I think America’s “growth” should come from a scaling back of our imperialist tendencies to focus more time, energy and resources here at home. But this has nothing to do with immigration. Well actually, scaling back military operations might afford us the ability to properly take in all the immigrants that are coming here. It might give us the resources to take everyone in, take care of them for a short time until they’re independent.
I just wish we treated them properly. We have entire industries being propped up by the low wages they’re allowed to pay their workers; because they’re ’illegal immigrants’. It’s bullshit and that quasi-slavery needs to end.
The Republican national convention already took place, don’t believe they can switch their candidate now without a lot of hassle, maybe someone with more knowledge on that will throw some insight in on this.
The scourge of outrage politics, outrage “news”, is even bigger than this instance. I really hope to see not just this guy win, but an endless stream of vilified people.
Sure, free speech is a good thing but no one ever promised you would be free of consequences for your speech. I wish all these hate-mongers to be held responsible for the harm their hate speech does
Seeing that picture reminded me his kids are biracial. So to add to this fatherhood moment: he also supports a man who doesn’t respect someone of mixed heritage, the very thing his own kids are.
It’s not cognitive dissonance, it’s wilful suspension of the truth and the reason politics are driving wedges into our families and friends.
Lastly, I’m not a conspiracy theorist but if another country wanted to destroy us from within this seems like a good way to do it.
Could happen that way, but I keep going back to the future timeline where fascists take over the US, fuck everything, decide war is the solution, then China puts them back in their place and reign as the world’s super power for the next 200 years.
I’m not a conspiracy theorist, either, but my preferred suspicion is that it’s aliens. They’ve tried a number of techniques, from implanting mind-control devices (Mitch McConnell and the way his face carries a look of horrified disgust at the things they make him do) to direct infiltration by putting one of their agents in an ill-fitting human suit (Ted Cruz). Ultimately, they seem to have given up the finesse approach, and settled on lobotomizing humans with existing personality disorders to create a RAID (redundant array of inexpensive dipshits) to simply overwhelm our system of government.
It’s the only explanation that really makes sense to me.
This really just shows the flaw in surveys like this. There is someone running who is younger, and they aren’t going to vote for her. They wish TRUMP was younger.
I haven’t had coffee yet, but I cannot get past the first sentence of the article. Alabama judge blocked Alabama from stopping enforcement blocking what‽
