How come we dedicate so many resources to rescuing one thrill seeker in the mountains but virtually no resources to people having other types of medical emergencies? Not saying we shouldn’t do that, all life is precious, but some is more precious than others it seems.

I’m barely into politics, my high school teachings of the political system aren’t terribly strong in my mind. All that to ask:
Can he do that?
And, if so:
What would need to happen for a president to convert our system to lifetime terms?
What would need to happen for a president to convert our system to a dictatorship/monarchy/whatever? (so we actually never voted again)
Is it at all likely that Trump could make either of those things happen?

Not an expert on the US political system, but legislative power, and thus changing the system, is vested in Congress, not the Presidency. So he’d need to get a supermajority there, and rewrite the Constitution. Point is, it’s not Trump that can do it, but a theoretical Republican House and Senate 60% supermajority (or a supermajority of State legislatures).
Look at what happened in Hungary in 2010, that’s a blueprint of that happening. Biden dropping out is good news, since from the outside it kinda looked like the US might have been setting itself up for that kind of thing to happen. I think with Harris running, it’s not realistic the Dems will lose that bad.
That said, he could try another Jan 6th, basically take Washington under military occupation. Then it’s up to which states go along with it and which ones don’t, and you’ve got a civil war.
This is why I don’t believe kids are “dumb” or deserve some kind of special treatment when it comes to absurd crimes like these. At that age, I was 100% conscious of what is right and what is wrong for shit like this, and I was also 100% aware that I could get away with so much because of my age. And I know a lot of you were too.
Not saying there are not stupid kids out there, but it’s so weird that people underestimate them waaay too much, you treat them like they’re mouth-breathing idiots that don’t understand the most basic shit like measuring the danger of this particular crime or lying about derailing a train for internet views like that kid from yesterday. Fuck that, prosecute them like adults in serious cases like these, this is another level, and question their parents too, they’re usually the main problem, not always, but very commonly so.
I’m pretty sure we already have the answers? Sensible water management, fighting climate change, and burning the forests that literally evolved to burn.
The only thing that will convince these people is to receive the excessive money those millionaires and billionaires we have today around the world don’t really deserve. I’d have children if it was easy, but fuck that. It’s better to hurt the upper class by not giving them cheap hand labour anymore, and I know they don’t like to hire the poorest people possible either because of a lot of henious reasons.

The content of Trump and Vance’s rhetoric is what spotlights it as weird. It didn’t need our help, although it is satisfying to point it out and call it what it is.
She’s only the underdog because of how much her current boss fucked everything up, though.
As for “people powered”, that’s only true if you consider billionaires and corporations people.
Don’t get me wrong, I’d vastly prefer her to the fascist shit show alternative, but let’s not lie about where her funding actually comes from.
