I was raised in a family where not getting a higher education was doom. I felt like a failure for not completing it. I turned my self-taught skills into a software engineering position at one of the big dogs. I had terrible imposter syndrome for the first six months. But later on, fuck that.
Fun fact: I don’t have a high school diploma either because credits weren’t going to transfer between schools and I’d have to graduate late. Got a GED and started uni classes while my friends were in their senior year.
The other fun thing that needs to change about job requirements: five years experience for an entry-level position. How the fuck do you expect anyone to break into an industry?
This isn’t even bronze age bruh some primitive societies had women who specialised into certain tasks not have children for various reasons. Or even for paganist (religious) reasons.
…I’m on her side and I actually had no idea it was supposed to be pronounced that way. I’ve pretty much only interacted with her name textually; I guess I just don’t keep up with political media enough. I’ve also got an uncommon name that people rarely pronounce correctly the first time but also I’m white so I’ve never had anyone be anything but apologetic about it.
Her name is a nod to her Indian heritage on her mother’s side and in her 2019 memoir, Harris wrote that she pronounced it “Comma-la” and that it means “lotus flower.” […] Still, Trump continues to say “Kah-MAH-la.”
I was sure this was going to be the other way around. Strange and less bad than I expected. It’s mostly just an accent thing, not a change in sounds.
Worked for google for a few years, then left. There’s nothing about what he’s been up to since 2021, so maybe retired or changed careers and wants to be private.
