93maddie94 , in New York City nonprofit provides free swimming lessons to underserved communities.
@93maddie94@lemm.ee avatar

Our local school district provides swim lessons as part of a PE unit to all second graders by busing them to a local indoor facility. They even have free swimwear available for students who don’t have it. A previous school district I was in had a PE program where 3-5th graders got to learn to ride bikes, they brought in a huge trailer of different sized bikes. There’s a lot of physical activity that some people take for granted without realizing that not everybody has the same opportunities. Programs like this are so important.

Treczoks , in In fiery speech to Congress, Netanyahu vows 'total victory' in Gaza and denounces U.S. protesters

Right before they let him take to the podium, they should have read the names of the hundreds of UN employees his army bandits have killed so far. As a “quick” placeholder for all the innocent victims of this war.

ReallyActuallyFrankenstein , in Rupert Murdoch in secret legal battle with children over media empire – report

Murdoch is said to have dubbed the bid “Project Harmony”, based on the belief that it would see off the prospect of a power struggle within the family after his death. But his children were reportedly blindsided by the move.

The 1984 double-speak of calling this “Project Harmony” - a bid to secretly subvert equal rights in the organization by installing one supreme leader - is so on-brand. Just…chef’s kiss.

This is basically the Mueller report all over again

DOJ: Oof, I really do not want to have to prosecute someone the Republicans like because they will make our lives hell in every single way, but this looks pretty bad… Ok, I’m just going to detail every single bad thing, but then just sum it up by saying the evidence doesn’t quite establish things beyond any reasonable doubt and everyone can see what they want here.

Media: DOJ MORE OR LESS FINDS ROGER STONE SENTENCING ALL GOOD

nondescripthandle , in MrBeast collaborator Ava Kris Tyson leaves YouTube channel after online users accuse her of grooming

This drama managed to find me earlier despite having never seen a Mr. Beast video. The cursory glace at statements and updates from the accuser and victim makes it seems like she’s innocent and this all got out of hand. That being said I personally wouldn’t really allow minors to be part of community whos conversations were like that. Im of the type that thinks it’s important to avoid even the appearance of impropriety when it’s in your power to do so.

ThrowawayPermanente , in Deputy accused of killing Sonya Massey in Springfield was discharged from Army for serious misconduct

Shouldn’t a serious offense lead to a dishonorable discharge?

thesporkeffect ,

Just to give context from the article:

However, the DD Form 214 summarizing Grayson’s tenure in the Army indicates he did not receive an honorable discharge.

Grayson also didn’t receive a dishonorable discharge, but Ghiotto said the DD Form 214 indicated Grayson was “kicked out” of the Army for serious misconduct before his regular term of enlistment was up.

Grayson received a “general” discharge under “honorable conditions,” which Ghiotto said means some, but not all, of Grayson’s service was honorable. That type of discharge should be a “red flag” to potential future employers, Ghiotto said. But he said a “bigger red flag” is the listing of misconduct.

Seems like it might be a military terminology problem

ThrowawayPermanente ,

Interesting, thanks

MagicShel ,

Yep. If your discharge is anything other than honorable (I think medical is not distinct from honorable, but if it is, that too), you either fucked up majorly or you are the fuck up.

Because currently there is no one standing before the court interested in transparency. That’s only a lower priority obligation for the judge, and if the judge allows it maybe court TV, an independent journalist or other media can argue it through an amicus brief.

Ejh3k ,

No. Is he a football player or some other athlete? The governor’s son or something?
