Ah, is this the excuse were going to use to dilute the real issue?. That it’s Iran. Not a gun-fetishizing mentally-ill right-wing Trump supporter radicalized by his eventual target?
We’re really trying to ignore the leopard eating all those faces.
Yeah, this is making them look even worse, tbh. They couldn’t stop this kid even with ‘ramped up security’? What if Iran had sent someone that could actually shoot?
Honestly I have no idea how hard it is to make that shot, especially if you know you’ve been spotted. I was basing that comment on how he failed to qualify for the marksmanship club at high school. But maybe he got better in the meantime.
I could easily keep my grouping within an inch or two at that distance shooting at a stationary target with no pressure about being shot myself at any given moment. When I’ve had deer in the scope at that range or a little further and the adrenaline starts pumping I need to pull back and catch my breath or I’ll sweep the cross hairs over the entire body without being able to keep steady and settle. Aiming at a former pres knowing secret service could pop you in a second, that’s a recipe for extreme nerves and adrenaline.
It’s just crazy that the perimeter was like 100m if trained snipers routinely take out targets at 1km+. If they really thought Iran was a threat it definitely doesn’t look like they did anything to stop it (and I think the thing that is really stopping other nation states from assassinating American heads of state or candidates is the guarantee that the US would invade like the next day, not the logistics of actually carrying it out).
we have several lifetimes worth of policies to change to fix the mess we are in. this is exactly what Biden should be doing, passing policy after policy in the next few months that have obvious positive results for the common voter. he’s not gonna run out of stuff to do if he’s re-elected, so he needs to stop holding onto this shit like it’s his last wild card of all time.
It’s not about that. It’s about building momentum for the idea. If it passes great, if not then it’s out there. People know it’s possible and it will never stop haunting the elites who the government actually serves.
I remember something recently along the same line that said they passed a law allowing themselves to benefit from some stock function the general public can not. Not sure what.
That is for “1 population” though, I don’t know if the divided USA public opinion still counts as 1 population. I’m not a polling scientist, I just know that you don’t need a massive amount of data points to draw statistically sound conclusions. Try tossing a coin and see how fast it stabilizes towards 50/50, that one really surprised me the first time I did it.
Not really, 2k is enough to have a result with a pretty low error %.
You’re totally right, my statistics is very rusty, good lord. For the ~240M eligible voters in the US, you can get roughly 2% margin of error, for the usual 95% confidence level.
My comment was a bit daft, in retrospective. Surely the polling people know what they’re doing, better than I do for sure x)
I guess it goes to show how non intuitive some statistical methods can be at first?
1000 is a solid sample size to start with, doubling that is better. But ultimately polls are flawed in the designers bias. How they frame questions matters and creates biases.
I would think tax law could make it completely untenable to own residential properties as rentals and give federal tax breaks to developers that build affordable housing? I’m sure there could also be federal grants to cities for easing zoning restrictions. Not sure how much of this is possible.
The shooting changed no ones votes yet it co.pletely demoralized the Dems to the point that their leadership think its over. The reason is they don’t know what to campaign on anymore. They’re too scared to run a negative campaign anymore. But they are also incapable of running any sort of positive campaign.
Actually promising a better future is a better strategy than listing his ‘achievements’ IMO. Problem is everyone remembers how they didn’t get their 2k covid checks, or how their student loans weren’t forgiven.
On the issue of student loan debt the president theoretically has the power to cancel federal debt unilaterally, but Biden himself is opposed to doing it which is why he’s never done it. Same reason why there’s no planned parenthood clinics on federal land or anything like that.
