ravhall , in Michigan man accused of fatally shooting his neighbor following argument over mulch

Hey, don’t touch mulch or you’ll be shot. Kinda like don’t get out of the car to yell at someone who hit your car with a plastic bottle or you might be beaten to a pulp. Victims gotta realize it’s their fault, because society made the bad guy. 🙄🙄🙄🙄/s

Reverendender ,

Don’t pick up a pan of water or you’ll be shot in the face?

scytale , in Michigan man accused of fatally shooting his neighbor following argument over mulch

I live in a new neighborhood and the house beside mine is still vacant. Every few days, I see potential buyers pull up with their agents to check it out. I cross my fingers hoping my eventual neighbor will be chill and easy-going.

Reverendender ,

What’s it going for?

Lets_Eat_Grandma , in Biden wants to free you from all those subscriptions you meant to cancel but didn’t

Can we also target restaurants that list a price and then add on bogus fees for no reason?

Looking at you, South End Buttery Annex in Boston, MA. 4% “administrative fee” on all purchases that is advertised NOWHERE.

Psythik ,

Reminds me of a local restaurant where they train the servers to ask if you want any sauces/dips, and then fail to inform you that they’re charging you for it when you say yes. Shadiest shit ever.

Imagine being the type of person who thinks shooting someone after a minor disagreement is acceptable. How angry and empty must your life be to resort to such an extreme response.

Didn’t know what mulch is, and I’m still not sure. We’re talking about this?: https://sh.itjust.works/pictrs/image/83b3a76a-2178-43f7-a2f6-5c9f1b97f52b.jpeg

I don’t understand

NOT_RICK ,

Yeah that’s mulch. Mulch is a weed barrier and a great source of nutrients for flower and shrub beds

This was probably a property line argument or just a little kid being a little kid and throwing some mulch around. This will never really make any sense because the perpetrator sounds like a total lunatic

Buffalox , (edited ) in Disney Seeking Dismissal of Raglan Road Death Lawsuit Because Victim Was Disney+ Subscriber - WDW News Today

In civilized countries that kind of contracts are illegal.
USA is not a country of law, if such contracts can stand. Here it would void everything that contract gives Disney. EVERYTHING!
In America, cooperations are allowed to twist the law and turn everything on its head, and there are no repercussions!

In a country where law matters, you can’t sign away basic rights, if this is generally allowed, you can by the same method create a system where de facto slavery exist.

Geobloke , in US Considers a Rare Antitrust Move: Breaking Up Google

Do they need to split off different departments? Since most of the stuff that Google dabbles in is digital, can’t they just start a few new companies with the exact same IP and split up the work force instead?

Red_October ,

“Sharing” the IP wouldn’t really work. The point is to have multiple companies that are either not overlapping, or are competing with each other. If they’re all working on the same IP but with different work forces, then you either have single products that diverge as multiple teams independently develop them (No longer the same product) or you just have a single large company with extra steps.

Geobloke ,

That’s what I mean if you split chrome out of alphabet you’ve still got chrome at 90ish market share

If you split it up then you’re forcing them to adapt and change

I’m not sure I’m making sense

Red_October ,

But if you split Chrome and the browser team, from the Search Engine team, and from the Advertising team, then all of a sudden they’re not all just one stacked product anymore, and so while Chrome may currently have the lions share of the market, it’s now competing on the same footing as Firefox and the rest.

gamermanh ,
@gamermanh@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

It would start at 90%, but drop for reasons the other reply said

Also: no longer would it be advertised as a browser to everyone who visits the Google search page. No longer will a conglomerate of what should be like 20 different companies in 14 different sectors be able to easily manipulate every website into optimizing for their products, so the average user will feel far less inclined to stay with them if there’s an alternative that works better for them

catloaf , in Michigan man accused of fatally shooting his neighbor following argument over mulch

Johnson was additionally charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm and two counts of felony firearm.

Why in the fuck did this guy have a gun in the first place?

Death_Equity ,

You see, you can’t put toothpaste back in the tube.

Maggoty ,

But you can damn well start cleaning it up instead of smearing it everywhere.

ccunning ,

Better judged by 12 than have your neighbor’s daughter touch your mulch.

tal ,

I mean, it sounds here like the mulch was already touched, so I don’t think that could be changed even by taking on first degree murder charges. I think the question here is more whether it’s better to go down for murder than to let the mulch-touching go uncontested.

givesomefucks ,

Private sales not requiring a background check means it’s easy for people to buy a gun without even giving the seller a name. Like, they don’t even have to give a fake one, they can just not mention a name.

But a lot of idiots are convinced the reason they can sell a used gun for more than a new one costs is they’re savvy businessmen…

And not that people pay a premium if they can’t pass a background check.

Socsa ,

You know perfectly well why. Because one of his buddies who believes “gun ownership is a human right” gave it to him. Or “accidentally lost it” at his place.

This shit is rampant, and is why the US needs gun registration.

Iapar ,

This is America.

harrys_balzac ,

You can easily have a non-felon buy it for you.

You could buy it off of a private individual.

It’s America, home of the brave and land of the gun purchase loophole.

Maggoty ,

Because we don’t have universal background checks.

forrcaho , in Biden wants to free you from all those subscriptions you meant to cancel but didn’t

This is great, but I want to see auto-renewal be something you have to opt in to when you sign up for a subscription service. It should never be the automatic default (as it always is everywhere now).

Kiernian , in Disney wants wrongful death of LI doctor lawsuit tossed over Disney+ streaming terms

Event happened at raglan road Irish pub, when raglan road staff failed to do their job in regards to food allergens.

Diner dies from anaphylaxis due to ingested dairy and nuts, which they were ASSURED BY THE WAITER WAS NOT IN ANY OF THEIR FOOD.

Disney is calling for the lawsuit to be dismissed because her husband signed up for a one-month trial of the Disney+ streaming service years prior. The company says signing up for the trial requires users to arbitrate all disputes with the company

LustyArgonianMana ,
@LustyArgonianMana@lemmy.world avatar

That’s insane. When are citizens going to be protected from fucking mandated forced arbitration???

PenisDuckCuck9001 ,

Never because when corporations do it it’s “capitalism” and “freedom”.

BenLeMan ,

Didn’t you know,? Protecting citizens is “communism” and therefore “un-American”.

WindyRebel ,

Haven’t courts ruled that those terms and conditions aren’t totally enforceable since no one can really read and/or understand them all?

This is a food issue and literally has nothing to do with any fucking digital agreement whatsoever. Full stop.

LodeMike ,

I think in this case, it wouldn’t count because of the “of course the terms of service only applies to the service, dipshit” and maybe “hey how about you grow a pair of eyes and notice her husband is not the Lady herself”

Edit: and maybe just a taste of “how about you go fuck yourself.”
