Labour is cheap and lives of individuals, especially poor, have little to no value when there are two billions of them and government wants to please the elite foreign world leaders.
A more humane gov would have built cheap, alternative housing for the inhabitants in new location and moved them there (if by force) before demolishing their homes. But this is Modi, he doesn’t do nice.
Good. It’s ridiculous that particular horrible cultural practice in India gets carried over to the so-called “land of the free.” Hopefully this will make things more free for Indian-Americans who would be considered of lower castes in India.
I’ve always wondered what people like this do mentally to pass the time every day. Five days is a long time to be stuck in a little box with little in the way of external stimuli.
