I’m not a capitalist but glad the free market regularly aligns with DEI. Thought the company I work at would back off a bit to the news coverage of outraged hysterics but they’ve doubled down.

Wasn’t the constant attempts to reduce funding to Portland drug addiction support & rehab groups by various conservative groups & politicians who don’t even live there, right?
In spite of its issues, the city still has higher employment and median income vs surrounding, less cultured areas around it.
Is this a joke? The only reason the “free market” pretended to align with DEI in the first place was for regulations and public relations purposes. The capitalist class has never and will never give a fuck about DEI. You know that HR departments are not our friends, right? Their job is to execute the will of the capitalist class upon the working class.
The US ruling class has been trying to do all of these things for decades. I’ve been treated like I’m insane for calling this out since well before Project 2025 was formulated. It’s honestly frustrating to see the amount of people finally coming around now that all their ducks are in a row and a second Trump term is looking more and more certain every day. Biden’s been literally doing Republican policies for his entire presidency and we haven’t heard a fucking peep from the liberal “activists” in my area about it.
Literally just yesterday I posted about it in my family’s political group chat and my older sister said, and I quote:
“even though I lean left, I’m actually glad that conservatives have a playbook! Why? because Trump’s first term presidential transition (2017) was totally bungled… he needs a list of people that he can appoint from, so that these agencies don’t just fall apart… Don’t kid yourself, Biden’s team and Obama’s team and the democrats overall definitely have their own playbook and their list of potential appointees. They just don’t have to crowdsource theirs!”
One member got upset that we were discussing politics in the family group chat so much in 2020 (read: we were bashing Donald Trump and his fucking idiocy too much) and insisted we move the conversation elsewhere

I woke up much sooner than when they ate my face. It was when they stripped a “supposed foreigner” of their company. The proof of them being a foreigner were having “stein” in their name, a “suspicious nose not common among real Hungarians”, not being religious, and supporting liberalism.
I’m a disabled person, who voted Fidesz in 2010, and my face got eaten by the leopards. Due to the nature of my disability, I won’t receive any help, I’m barred from driving cars thus barred from many local jobs. Those who can are re-examined every few years, and even amputees are body-searched sometimes for “tied-up limbs”, and are preferred to instead seek some job which is specifically made for the disabled, which thanks to local version of ableism, is largely something specialized for the intellectually disabled, and the job descriptions often read like they were lifted from those godawful ableist jokes.
Devout Christianity is a common reason. Specifically, the kind that believes abortion is murder and is the number 1 topic that can supersede all others. If one candidate vows to outlaw it and the other vows to protect it, the conservative Christian brainwashing machine gets these out-groups to vote against all of their interests to “protect babies”.
Taxes is another I hear. People actually beleive Republicans are fiscally responsible and going to help these out-groups, many of whom are lower middle class, get ahead by reducing tax. Ignore the part where reducing everyone’s taxes increases everyone’s gains, increasing everyone’s budget, and therefore not actually increasing anyone’s purchasing power because the market will adjust sales price higher.
Obviously, this works on the majority demographics too. But they’re closer to the in-group than who you asked about

Nobody fucking cares. This isn’t some academic exercise to rank crazy times. This is the very real political strategy of a party about to take power in the US. This view from nowhere shit is so exhausting.
It’s been somewhat traumatic. I had to take things back to where they began two generations ago, return to the roots that once were, though they’re new to me. I’m grateful that you and I could commiserate, at least. It’s validating to speak to others who felt the same.

Same. In my opinion, America—“the Great Experiment”—is at this point mostly a failed experiment. But the goal for which said experiment originally strived is still a worthy one.

Yeah, but a lot of conservatives, and by extension fascists, are extremely hypocritical on the surface, except they like to use “hypocrisy” as a tool against their opponents, and by “hypocrisy”, I mean not following the strawman version of your ideology. I personally call this as “rulebending”, they’re manipulating their opponents rules to be even higher and thus choking them with it.
On a deeper level they just want a lot of power, which includes them being above the law, as long as they’re loyal to the dictator/king. If project 2025 succeeds, expect one of them getting caught on live with real CP, maybe even raping a child, then will just go “so what? I can do this, you are not allowed to!”.

“Tens of thousands”. There is absolutely not enough young republicans in the nation to replace that many federal workers. The outcome if they fired them anyways would be orders of magnitude worse than the De-Ba’athification of Iraq. Its declaring class war on Northern Virginia and its a fight the GOP would lose.
I’m from there too. I could feel myself slowly becoming that type of libertarian shit head growing up until I moved away. Libertarianism is the only way you can rationalize all the bullshit you see around you and still remain in that environment.
It takes a severe level of willful ignorance to work for the MIC. They’re so close to the contradictions at play that whenever you try to interrogate them on those contradictions they just short circuit in a way. Often they’ll repeat some sort of aphorism.
We got CBD oil for our kitties to help them endure 4th of July fireworks. We tried giving it to them a day early to observe their reactions before everything got loud and scary. One of them scratched me so much (out of fear, not malice) that I quickly gave up. We’re gonna try sneaking it on some tuna tonight. The store was sold out of CBD treats, so hopefully this works.
When cats sharpen their claws on wood it keeps them at the right length.
The only time we needed to clip our cat’s claws was when she was getting old and couldn’t sharpen them herself.
We noticed it when she was getting more and more passive, and on a whim we looked ar her claws, they had grown into her pads on her paws, we started cliping them regularly, but only slightly, and she was soon feeling much better.
This happened after and accident when she was out and we thought she got lost, but after a few days she was back in our garden, she was clearly in pain so we took her to the vet and one of her rear legs had been dislocated, it took weeks to get it to heal, and after that event she started having trouble with her claws.
Yeah, I just snip the tips on the front ones usually. I’ve been doing it since he was little and while he doesn’t appreciate it he has never fought or clawed me in the process of it.
What do you do when the cat refuses to use scratching posts? No matter the material—cardboard, carpet, rope—she will only scratch the furniture and folded towels. (We even tried wrapping a scratching post in towel material and she still won’t scratch it.)
Obviously we don’t want her destroying the furniture, so we don’t* let her scratch long enough to shorten her nails… wat do?
We never really had this issue, but I would try putting the folded towels in a cupboard with a door. As for furniture you could try and fit some hard plastic over the favourite scratching area so she won’t get a grip with her claws.
We had our cat when we were doing a remodel (still going on at my parents, I still remember when the front porch was ripped out and the big job was starting back in 2000, but even before then the house was being remoddeled.
She loved to scrach against wodden posts so much so that over the years she had scratched away about a third of the equivalent of a twobyfour post.
We let her do that since the post would hold little weight, and it is relatively easy to swap if needed.
Though it still doesn’t solve the issue of her refusing to scratch a designated post. She’ll just find something else. I’ve thought about buying a cheap yoga mat, cutting off a bit and taping it to the floor, cause she seems to enjoy scratching those too when we’re working out and step away for a break.
Cats really only like to scratch on tall and sturdy things like trees or heavy couches
If their post isn’t tall enough, they can’t get a good stretch out of it
If the post tips over easily, they just won’t want to use it (you can also use a heavy weight to keep the base steady, but I find that solution rather cumbersome )

Well you double down and assert that your cat and training is superior, and therefore applies to all cats and anyone should be able to do what you do with your cats! Just kidding! accept the reality that everyone’s situation and cats are different!
