Not only that, but Reddit refugees too idealistic for Reddit, but without niche interests guiding them to a niche instance, plus a desire to not even be federated with Marxist instances.
Communists acknowledge the necessity of censoring harmful ideas and effectively communicate their rationale. Meanwhile, liberals criticize communists for such practices while simultaneously advocating for the suppression of dissenting views. This exposes their hypocritical stance on free speech and open dialogue.
On the various posts in this current flood of “Communists should leave the communist instance for my own comfort” nonsense, even the anti-.ml crowd can’t provide good examples of how anyone who looks at them funny gets banned. Nobody has modlog receipts and almost every example THEY provide of communists oppressing them or whatever is THEM saying dumb nothings like “I can’t hear you over Tienanmen Square” or cussing up a storm while the .ml person is like “Here’s a book about XYZ”
I’m sure people have been perhaps hastily moderated on .ml, but probably not any more than any other instance, and if so they aren’t the ones rallying to de-ML .ml.
I think a lot of this is basically culture shock of people realizing that their views aren’t dominant on the platform and having their deeply held biases questioned.
I took it as Fry is drinking non American beer, because American beer tastes like water.
But really, outside of a couple large national beer chains that sell their low cost “bud, coors, Busch, natty” America has a shit ton of small breweries that make a large variety of beers that aren’t that way. There’s literally over 9,000 operating breweries in the US.
There used to be an entire subreddit that basically did this. There were hundreds of fake users each posting and commenting. No real users were allowed to post or comment. I loved it because they would sort of mirror what was currently on the front page but in much more ridiculous way.
Edit: It was called subreddit simulator. And the creator said it used Markov chains. So no need to use bad prompted LLMs. Just do it the “old fashioned” chatbot way.
And during that documentary (which no one was able to replicate) he was essentially an alcoholic, which is the real reason his liver enzymes were elevated and is statistically a much greater contributor to poor health than McDonalds.
I went to a Cracker Barrel a few years ago and they has a sign that read “Proudly serving people of color since 1973” or whatever year it had. Weird brag
It’s to counter the racism, biggotry, and xenophobia present in pockets of American culture.
These shitty types of people avoid or hide within large cities - everyone is typically fine in these places. But small towns can sometimes have a serious problem with this if they are too “red” (Conservative).
In short, pockets of America are very tribal. People bond over similarities, and their shared disapproval of anything different, or out of the ordinary.
Yup. And there’s also a HUGE difference between being anti-Semitic and just being against genocide. And our “news media” is determined to deliberately conflate the two.
Yes a big ass bear is clearly more dangerous but like in reality the random man is much more variable and there are WAY more examples of what we’re capable of as opposed to what a bear does.
