How many communities are you subscribed to?
Personally subscribed to 126, and it’s steadily growing by 2-4 each week. But curious to how many you are subscribed to too. Feel free to share your favorite community too!...

What’s going on with the server? My alt account lives there and he could use a welfare visit. It’s been offline for at least three days....
!hackernews used to be a feed posting things from the orange site. It stopped 3 months ago. Does anyone know how to get it back in action, or is there another somewhere else I can subscribe to?
tl;dr I propose a Fedi Union consisting of the developers of Phanpy, Pixelfed, Peertube, Lemmy, and PieFed. That will work as a way to fund all of the services collectively (with the option to still go to their individual patreons and fund them seperately) and as a way for them to communicate to help all the services be more...
I keep getting banned without reason
I dunno how many here have given it a try yet, or simply don’t ever intend to but are nevertheless a little curious, so I’m putting down some notes here....
cross-posted from: lemmy.ca/post/12971023...
It not only have problems with CSEM (the real-life stuff), but there are now bots spamming it and Twitter made reporting it a chore....
It’s one of the first things I would expect from a site like this. I know that J.K. Rowlings views are very controversial to put it mildly, but:...
Please post one top-level comment per complaint about Lemmy. You can reply with ideas or links to existing GitHub issues that could address the complaints. This will help identify both common complaints and potential solutions....
I just got banned from [email protected], which seems to be the biggest Linux community out there....
I recently finished the episode of The Verge’s podcast #Decoder with the interview to Bluesky’s CEO and it seems a quite interesting project. At the beginning I wasn’t looking really into it because of their choice of using a new protocol instead of the existing ActivityPub, but after listening to her and the reasons...
If the spirit of the fediverse is to spread everything across small instances, then i think it would be really important to make communities, especially niche communities, easier to discover across instances. Since it is not planned to crawl federated instances community catalog, i think instance admins, or maybe even the lemmy...
Is there any interest in this idea?...
For the last two days, there seem to be dns/secure connection/insecure connection issues when attempting to access fedia.io, sometimes the home splash page comes up, most oven over the last 48 hours or so, browser shows could not connect error....
Do you think that the fediverse has something to gain with the enshitfication of discord? Are there voice chat programs in the fediverse that can benefit from it?
I will probably be harassed for this but I feel like I need to act....
Discoverability in this context meaning the ability to more effectively find public communities/people of interest. Alongside improving this however, respecting people’s decisions on whether and how they may be found, if at all.
Does every PeerTube instance store all other instances’ content metadata (title, description, comments)? Would federating virtually with YouTube (through a YouTube frontend like Piped) give a too high ammount of data to store on other instances?
In the months since I deleted my Reddit accounts and joined Lemmy, the lack of user base growth has made it clear that we need some users to stay on Reddit as a means of shepherding more users over on an ongoing basis. Otherwise, Reddit simply got what it wanted: less users who make a fuss about how it manages its platform...
First, I’m sorry if this is not the right place to discuss this....
I’ve been off and on with the Fediverse for sometime now. It’s a relatively friendly place full of fellow nerds, but with a few caveats…...
I’m excited to see the new meme browsing interface feature in PieFed. I expected PieFed to be yet another Reddit clone using a different software stack and without any innovation. I believe there’s an opportunity to take things a step further by blending the best elements of platforms like Reddit and image boards like...
I was trying to post a video but it wouldn’t show up as available to upload in Jerboa, is this a per community thing or is it across all of lemmy? It would make sense because videos are inherently a larger file size, if that is the reason
