Itās a good video that addresses a lot of misconceptions. I do believe Iām an introvert, but I also see a lot of people greatly misunderstanding introversion/extroversion.
One part of the video that really hit home for me is the part where he talks about having a purpose. I can speak in front of large crowds because Iām there with a defined purpose, whereas Iāve never gotten used to small talk. This became really obvious back when I was in a band. People would talk to me after the show at the table and assume I was the same person I was during our performance, whereas in a way that was just a role I played, but it was comfortable for me because I was there with a purpose. Itās not this alone that defines introversion/extroversion, but I feel like a lot of people could benefit from understanding this. Itās why most of the friends I make are centered around shared hobbies and interests.

this shit is so fucking obnoxious. if āintrovertā basically functions as a preferred positive label for people with social anxiety [ie āspecial needsā instead of the r-word], fine. people with social anxiety ARE VERY LIKELY to be introverts because anxiety causes you to exert excess energy. having social anxiety shouldnāt disqualify you from being an introvert, that makes no fucking sense.

He is a licensed therapist and a superb communicator. He is operating on the actual technical definitions of those words in psychology (not what people on the Internet feel they should mean).
