I don’t think there’s anything between.

Sunny OP ,

lol - just realised that probably wasnt the best formulation for a question ahah

variants , to selfhosted in Does the form factor between 3.5" and 2.5" matter in a NAS server?

I recently started getting my drives from serverpartdeals 3.5". The refrubs seem to work great for my use case of just media. I have a second unraid server that is just 2.5" ssd’s and 4 nvme’s that I use for my personal files and photos since it’s a much smaller and low power build I can stuff a bunch in a mini itx case so 2.5" is great for that

Acronyms, initialisms, abbreviations, contractions, and other phrases which expand to something larger, that I’ve seen in this thread:

Fewer Letters More Letters
CF CloudFlare
NAS Network-Attached Storage
RAID Redundant Array of Independent Disks for mass storage
SATA Serial AT Attachment interface for mass storage
SSD Solid State Drive mass storage
ZFS Solaris/Linux filesystem focusing on data integrity

Either you’re cured or you’re dead. Whatever happens, the burn will be gone.

Apparently if I have penicillin again there’s a fifty percent chance I’ll be completely fine.

On a budget?!? have you seen what these puppies go for? The absolutely cheapest drive-able used hilux in Denmark, is a two seater 2008 that’s done 228000 km, and looks like 300k. Even the navigation has been ripped out and replaced with some butt ugly off the shelf stereo. And the seller is still asking for €9300.

I’d friggin love to have a hilux, but it’s definitely not budget enough.

hemko ,

Funnily enough, 2nd hand hilux prices started skyrocketing after topgear did their hilux shitpost

BigDanishGuy ,

It was what piqued my interest in getting one, but I was broke and in school, so no hilux for me. But that the prices are still inflated is wild. I mean it was the 4th and 5th gen models that were unbreakable, and the one I found was 11years newer than 5th gen.

But the age of the unbreakable hilux means that I can get them on a classic car registration, which comes with a low yearly registration fee, inspections every 8th year, vs 2nd for newer cars, and cheap insurance. I may have been looking the wrong places for a hilux.

I call this feeling “The Holy Spirit” and no I’m not religious, hear me out.

So there’s “The Father” which is you, in charge of everything.

Then there’s “The Son” which is your Jesus, the bit of you that does shit mostly perfectly without any input from you. The scary example of this is when you drive to work and can’t remember the drive at all. Jesus Take the wheel. Teach your Jesus right and you can trust he’ll do things fine.

Then The Holy Spirit, which is that part of you that sees everything, before the filters are applied, and let’s you know something is off. There’s no obvious reason for it, but there’s something off about this guy and we need to get away from him as soon as possible and never interact with them again.

The Jesus part is the important bit for most of us. Learning to play the guitar? Teach your Jesus. When you’ve practiced enough you can just trust that Jesus will hit the notes while you concentrate on singing along.

When I learned to Juggle I just taught my Jesus how to throw properly so it lands in the other hand.

At work I teach my Jesus how to do the manual labour, do the checks I need to do, and I can concentrate on ripping on my work colleagues.

“But in general, take my advice, when you meet anything that’s going to be Human and isn’t yet, or used to be Human once and isn’t now, or ought to be Human and isn’t, you keep your eyes on it and feel for your hatchet.”

Ok that makes more sense coming from a Christian book. I was wondering if they’d be hatcheting fetuses.

Iron_Lynx ,

Am I seeing this right? Are you calling one of the defining works of Fantasy literature a “Christian book?”

Yeah it’s lip service, but it’s lip service they pay due to feeling like we are a marketable demographic.

They feel that advertising to us as a group and making the haters mad is more profitable than the alternative.

The way bud light handled it, when kid rock started shooting bud light palettes with his machine gun…

This is what you need to know.

Never trust.

BarrelAgedBoredom ,

What’s your point in bringing bud light up? I’m not trying to start shit, genuinely curious. What is it that we need to know? What does “never trust” mean in this context? I can’t make heads or tails of anything you wrote

SqueakyBeaver ,

I’m not op, so I’m just guessing here

I think they meant a sort of “at the first sign of pushback, the companies will ditch LGBT people. Don’t mistake their gay logos as actually support”

Omniraptor ,

Last spring bud light sent trans influencer Dylan mulvaney a personalized beer can as part of a broad marketing push. This drew criticism/calls for a boycott from various prominent transphobes and caused a slight slump in sales. Bud light responded by laying off/“laying off” various senior marketing execs etc, and did not afaict support support mulvaney after it (no loud anti-transphobia pr statement). Very illustrative story of how corporate support of lgbt people under capitalism works

kamenlady ,

Like SqueakyBeaver and omniraptor pointed out, it was last years campaign Budweiser made with dylan mulvaney. They featured her on some bud light special editions.

Kid Rock made a video with him shooting the beer and the target demographic “cancelled” bud light making a big fuss about it online.

Budweiser was short of apologizing on their knees for their “mishap”, the Creator of the campaign was fired, etc.

People online were pretty harsh with dylan mulvaney. Budweiser dropped her like a hot potato. From what she posted afterwards, i figured they never contacted her or reached out to her in any way, in order to check if she’s ok.

That’s what i meant, they invest in “inclusion” , because it brings them cash. It’s not like humans became enlightened over the past decades. There was progress, sure, very slow progress in all things around being inclusive of others. Corporations are adapting to a demographic that is growing and are potential future customers.
