Oh look it’s not child support this time.

PapaStevesy , to mildlyinfuriating in This is the Lincoln Nautilus. Look at that shape. As a cephalopod, I am highly offended.

It’s a car-shaped car, idk what the problem is. Were you expecting tentacles?

FlyingSquid OP ,
@FlyingSquid@lemmy.world avatar

I was expecting something that looks at least vaguely like a nautilus.

PapaStevesy ,

Like with stripes or a big round shell that it protrudes from? Don’t get me wrong, it’s a cool-looking animal, but it would look dumb as hell if someone tried to make a car actually look like one imo. Maybe a spaceship or a deep-sea submersible, but not a car.

What authorities do I even report this to? Bastet?

ValiantDust ,

Sekhmet seems more appropriate, though depicted with a lion’s head not a housecat’s.

Sekhmet acted as the vengeful manifestation of Ra’s power, the Eye of Ra. Sekhmet is said to breathe fire, and the hot winds of the desert were likened to her breath. She is also believed to cause plagues. (Wikipedia)

She would sort that shit out.

I marked it as urgent.

(Yes! I couldn’t remember the name & I wasn’t sure anyway, but I knew Bestet was depicted as kitty so in my laziness of not wanting to do one single search I went with the safer choice)

Did he lie? Or did he give a vague statement that is necessarily true?

HuntressHimbo ,

There is a wetlander humor but it is very low activity

Sorry, should have said an active wetlander humor community. I’m actually a subscriber on that community.

The question is what Ajah he would end up in. The Whites, Grays, and Browns would all want him, hut he might be a Blue at heart

Do you just play these games for 1 or 2 days, then move on to something else? I didn’t think I would enjoy playing some of these for only a few hours, it’s not enough time to really get the full experience.

The Geneva Conventions forbade this.

pizza_the_hutt , to startrek in [DISCUSSION] In TNG's "The Most Toys" (s3e22), did Data lie about firing the disruptor?

Contrary to popular belief, there is nothing in Data’s programing that would prevent him from doing “bad” things like lying or killing. He has free will just as much as any other Starfleet officer.

Data is much more human than you might guess at first. He is more akin to a human on the autism spectrum than a robot with hard-coded programming.

ummthatguy OP ,
@ummthatguy@lemmy.world avatar

Absolutely. Rewatching the series in full as an adult made it more apparent that Data was always closer to his goal than he could comprehend. Just had trouble adjusting to social “norms” more than others.

CptEnder ,

Yup exactly. He just lacked emotional subroutines (at first) and the hardware to process that. But he doesn’t need emotions to kill. He is in fact capable of using lethal force (First Contact), he just has an ethical subroutine that prevents killing (Descent I, II) unless in defense of others, himself, or The Federation. Which would fall under his logical subroutines.

Similar in a way to Chief Engineer Hemmer who will not use violence (Memento Mori) unless in an act of preserving life. The means to defend is part of the training of a Starfleet officer.

Arch is unironically easy.

You only need to know two commands:

archinstall

and

sudo pacman -Syu

PS: If my 60 year old mom can do it, anyone can.

Spider89 ,

I installed Arch using archinstall and my system finished with missing KDE and important packages. I was also missing secure boot…

Staying on Debian.

nebulaone ,
@nebulaone@lemmy.world avatar

How long ago was that? I have installed Arch with archinstall on ~10 different PCs over the last 4 years without any issues. Maybe I just got lucky, though.

velox_vulnus , to programmerhumor in (ー_ー゛)

Shouldn’t this be the other way round?

CptEnder , to lemmyshitpost in Just why??

I always get the bills dropped lightly in my palm with coins dropped in the bills like a little money burrito. Guess I’m a nice person lol. All I know is I feel the weight of the universe on my back whenever I go up to the cashier and wanna do it as fast as possible so I don’t plop the money on the counter because it wastes time, just hand it over and if there’s coins I hold em up to drop an inch in their hands.

That’s true, never make impactful decisions in a rush. But I feel like the last panel only works in the current context of escalating code changes

It’s even faster if you have a gesture set up to open the camera app. I dunno why people get so suspicious of people being able to snap a picture quickly these days. It’s a simple practiced skill.
