BTW which custom Kernel is that? What are its advantages and how did you get it?

duckywastaken ,

Low latency, it’s a kernel made specifically for, you guessed it, low-latency applications, such as gaming. As for where you get it, on Ubuntu I don’t know as I’m an Arch user. (btw)

MigratingtoLemmy ,

Thanks

tammie OP ,

As ducky said. As for where to get it, it came with Ubuntu Studio by default, so I’m not sure beyond that

This doesn’t apply to all french speaking regions. Switzerland use septante and nonante and in some regions of the country also huitante.

was gonna say props to Switzerland and Belgium for having proper numbers :) idk why we don’t switch

Probably because the cost of switching isn’t worth it. Same reasoning as the imperial system and driving on the left (barbaric, I know)

Oil barrons merely see global warming as yet another catastrophe to take advantage of for power and profit, they will have their companies pump oil til there’s not a single drop left to pump anywhere, using every excuse they can find to keep pumping and polluting while evading taxes and regulation as much as possible. They are evil scum and belong in jail for their lies and behavior.

No lie, he seems like such a cool dude. If I were in the area, I’d totally go to see him. And while I first knew him as Chekov, I grew to love him as Al Bester on Babylon 5, truly some of his best work!

cygnus ,

Bester was so punchable, yet somehow sympathetic. He really nailed the role.

As Chekhov it was like yeah okay I get what they were going for. But as Bester he really stole every episode of B5 he was in. Bravo, Walter. I wish more folks gave B5 a chance. Looking at you, sis 👀

Patients are harming striking doctors. If they want to be seen sooner, they could help apply pressure to the government to improve conditions, instead of licking boots and crying about labour action.

JoBo ,

There’s a very high level of support for NHS strikes, around 2:1 for vs against. Mebbe cast aspersions on those with the power to resolve them, not the people the Daily Mail will never give a platform to.

ComradeChairmanKGB ,
@ComradeChairmanKGB@lemmygrad.ml avatar

Is that 2 thirds getting off the couch and doing anything? Interesting that the western world can sanction countries under the logic that people can pressure the governments. But when it’s time for pressuring their own, well… suddenly it’s time to get indignant about casting aspersions. At least the French riot. Maybe the UK is waiting for another bus to tell them what to believe.

JoBo ,

You’re calling yourself comrade but you think it’s all about individual actions and nothing to do with power?

Fuck knows what sanctions have to do with it. Since when did ordinary people get to decide when and where sanctions are applied?

Empty posturing, finger-wagging, sneering. Great tools for building solidarity ‘comrade’.

ComradeChairmanKGB ,
@ComradeChairmanKGB@lemmygrad.ml avatar

Solidarity is when no one does collective action and just blames the media.

JoBo ,

If you cannot be arsed to think about how power works, there is no helping you.

Still, at least France will get its revolution. All those people out on the streets, it’s inevitable, right? So easy, the whole world would be a socialist paradise if only people weren’t so stupid and lazy and too busy keeping a roof over their heads to be more like your saintly self.

ComradeChairmanKGB ,
@ComradeChairmanKGB@lemmygrad.ml avatar

your saintly self.

You hopped up on the high horse first my friend.

I was originally making a contrary joke in response to the headline. With a bit of a message tacked on about supporting strikers, semi in response to entitled behavior I’ve directly seen by people on the Canadian side of things. With a bit of natural disdain for the British thrown in of course.

Now it’s true I’ve been a bit of a dick but you’re in the mud with me too lmao.

there is no helping you.

And what was it you said?

Great tools for building solidarity

Anyway I’m not sure we’re really on separate sides here, so much as just being nasty at this point. So peace.

What I am shocked at is people still buy tabloid news papers in the UK especially the junk papers like the daily mail. The UK media is brought and sold just like the US media. All trash, don’t support them.

KFC Bermuda, the only USA franchise fast food we have here on the island. No MacDonalds, no Burger King,no Pizza Hut, no Wendy’s, no Taco Bell, no Domino’s etc etc They made a law to stop any USA fast food chains, but KFC (then Kentucky Fried Chicken) was already here, so they were grandfathered in and allowed to stay. Been here since the 70s 😂 Now you know… Come to Bermuda, brave the triangle for the original recipe sandwich lol

Ghost33313 ,
@Ghost33313@kbin.social avatar

But JoJo got good long before halfway through. For me it starts with Battle Tendency but for many it's good from Stardust Crusaders on. That leaves many more seasons and even more manga.
My advice for anyone getting into JoJo would probably be start with Stardust Crusaders, they explain why Dio is a big deal in the narrative and the mask isn't relevant anymore so none of it really matters.
You are right that the first season is a total drag and very skippable though.

graham1 ,
@graham1@gekinzuku.com avatar

Yeah I agree. However, Battle Tendency may be hard to jump into it somebody skipped part 1.

People like to bring up the first Jojo parts as an example of skippable content, but I also want to emphasize part 1 & part 2 almost have less episodes (26 combined) than half of part 3 (48 episodes), so it’s hardly skipping anything since there are 6 animated parts.
