Paperless-ngx re-process failed mail consumption?

I’ve been using paperless-ngx to consume mail from outlook/hotmail for a while now, but recently had the mail server refuse connections while mail was being processed. (Not sure why, consuming is working now with no changes and no errors besides ‘connection refused’, while retrieving that mail. Temporary outage I guess?)...

Are LLMs capable of writing *good* code?

By “good” I mean code that is written professionally and concisely (and obviously works as intended). Apart from personal interest and understanding what the machine spits out, is there any legit reason anyone should learn advanced coding techniques? Specifically in an engineering perspective?...

After upgrading my internet connection I immediatelly noticed that my HDD tops 40 MB/s and bottlnecking download speed in qbittorrent. Is it possible to use SSD drive as a catch drive for 12 TB HDD so it uses SSD speeds when downloading and moves files to HDD later on? If yes, does it make sense? Anyone using anything simmilar?...

Is this what strong encryption already does behind the scenes?

Not very useful error messages either: “Failed to join room”. (In my case, I tried creating...

How do you use your user tags in your app?

So quite a few lemmy clients have a tagging feature for users. I use it quite constantly because I like to remember who I’m talking to. Though for some I just use it for descriptors. A few of you are listed as stubborn, a few of you are listed as don’t engage, a few are Nice, or helpful, or Pug. I believe one of you is just...

Are there any good critical thinking courses online?

I’m interested in helping friends tell the difference between fact and fiction, truth and hearsay and general stuff like that that gives peace of mind that they can defend themselves from gaslighting, makes life easier to live, and harder to be taken advantage of by propaganda. Just a few examples....
