They're only good for small things like enamel pins, maybe some stickers and probably some everyday average stuff.
I start getting skeptical when it comes to dealing with electronics, clothes, any furniture and any other good that's considerably higher value. That's when I turn to thrifting in some cases.
So all that these places are good for is again - smaller stuff.
I’m not sure if it counts as underground (it’s been around for ages), but if you’ve never thought about how your shoelaces contribute to the overall fit and comfort of your shoe, I’d recommend giving Ian’s shoelace site a visit.
The long answer is there are steam deck alternatives that can dual boot something like Bazzite (Steam OS), and windows, and they will work for desktop use if you don’t want to buy a nuc or build a regular desktop. You’ll have all the usefulness of the steam deck with the option to use windows.
But dual boot is still clunky, and the devices you would buy for this purpose are still generally more expensive than a steam deck (Legion Go or ROG Ally etc). When you add in the price of a dock, and other accessories (mouse and keyboard etc) I don’t know if it’s worth it except in niche use cases like my own. I use the Bazzite OS on my Legion Go 90% of the time. But for the 6-7 games I own that aren’t compatible or optimized for steam os, I use windows. I had to debloat and change a lot of privacy settings and upgrade the windows 11 OS to Pro to get policy editor etc. That’s a lot of time investment. I also bought a 2 TB drive and cloned it. All told I probably spent around the same amount as you would for a regular desktop (even with buying the Legion Go and other parts for my setup on Labor Day sale).
Losing the windows 11 secure boot and encryption means you won’t be able to play certain games that require anti-cheat that relies on secure boot.
I think ROG may be coming out with the next iteration of the Ally soon and that might drop the price of the current models but nobody can make any promises on that.
Have you tried creating a couple systemctl scripts to rmmod the wifi driver prior to suspend then another to modprobe it on wake? I’ve had to do this with success on another laptop
Here is a video (24:27) by Technology Connections talking about the TV Guardian. There’s also this video (20:59) by Ben Eater, who looks at the memory chip on the device to figure out how it works. It’s pretty neat, and I recommend both videos if you have some spare time.
To be fair, Dick Van Dyke is ALREADY a hilarious name. Not even sure how that made it past 1950s censors who wouldn’t let Ricky and Lucy sleep in the same bed, or Barbra Eden show her belly button.
The term you are looking for to describe such a shape is technically “spherical polygon”. Triangles are impossible in speherical geometry since the sum of the angles would always be greater than 180°.
There is no rule that the angles of a triangle add to 180 degrees.
I think this is debatable. If it was not, then the answer to OP’s question would be obvious, and this thread would be uninteresting. The words we use carry a lot of unwritten baggage.
I think OP clearly has an inkling of non-euclidian to even ask what they did, so I’m not sure euclidian rules are relevant to the discussion. It seems they know of it but non-euclidian geometry is not intuitive so this isn’t obvious to most.
The answer is obvious. Depending on the curvature of the object the triangles have higher or lower than 180 degrees angle sums. Flat space just happens to have 0 curvature.
Huh, never knew this was where the RPG term spelljammer came from.
I’ve never run or been in a spelljammer campaign but have always been interested. I just thought they “jammed” together magic and age of sail ideas and that’s where they got the name from lol.
Yeah lol looked that up myself, too. But when making sense of the RPG term in the first place, I relied on my then understood definition of jamm(ing/er).
