NASA has a paper on how to not poop for days. It’s on the Internet. Before space toilets there was only a space bag with finger scissor/scoop holes. It didn’t work, poop got everywhere. The paper goes into detail about fecal matter being everywhere after early multi-day missions.
So they figured it out. Their system works – I’ve also had my own reasons.
What the fuck is up with all the posts about shit and shiting in Lemmy lately? Is there some inside joke I am missing or is this an attempt to flood the site with low quality content?
I’m a 28 yo trans woman and switched careers from arts admin to data science in healthcare. I’m learning UE5 in the hopes of realizing a game idea (city-builder/resource manager on a floating Rubik’s cube).
Special interests change regularly and include: electrical engineering, software development, anything space / cosmology / physics, sewing, piano, etc… It’s a problem.
I adopted to cats Shadow Lady and Stinky Jane last year and they are everything to me.
Anti-hobbies include eating, partying, public speaking, and dancing.
Any chance for a ShittyDaystrom? I don’t want to mod it (I’m a terrible mod) but I sure would love to shitpost there.
edit: seems like the only active mod on ShittyDaystrom on Reddit has ran a script to edit all their old comments, and Reddit suspended them for it. The sub on Reddit appears to be running fine with no mods. I think it would be a fine candidate for creating a community here, the people in the Reddit sub are happily shitposting Star Trek memes with no active mods at all. If someone who is not a terrible mod, like myself, would like to take it on, I seriously doubt it will be much work.
There are some huge fans of shittydaystrom on the team here, we’ll definitely be hosting a community for that eventually. For the moment, we’re worried about fracturing users by creating too many different communities.
If you have a shittydaystrom appropriate thing you want to post, stick it in /c/Risa. I’ll upvote it.
For an episode whose argument hinged on genetic engineering being a cultural practice for the Ilyrians it is strange they never actually had anybody testify as to what significance it has in Ilyrian culture. Or how it is done and why.
If the genetic engineering is done to adapt to their inhospitable atmosphere why are they doing it to every child? They could just edit the germline once and be done with it.
Altogether it felt like the writers just got very attached to the idea of genetically modified individuals as a metaphor for real world marginalized groups that they lost track both of the in-universe practicalities of the metaphor and the real world implications for the metaphor. This was just outright sympathetic to eugenicists, an ideology that has led to the deaths of millions of marginalized people.
@varda@ValueSubtracted Maybe I missed something but I thought the Ilyrians were all about augmentation, both genetic and technological. I think there’s a huge difference between taking something, making it better and the pursuit of a perfect race. I too would like to know more.
@bulbasaur “the study of how to arrange reproduction within a human population to increase the occurrence of heritable characteristics regarded as desirable.” Very different from augmenting oneself with current tech, like vaccination.
I think the confusion is coming from the fact that cis and trans really only have context of an expectation. In this case, it would be the expectation of society.
You are correct that if you identify as a woman or a man, you are a woman or man. If you have a penis, or a vagina, or some mix or lack of those, then those are just parts of your body and that isn't really up to interpretation.
In broad strokes, society expects your body parts (penis, vagina) to correspond to how you identify (man, woman). Humans are kind of just built this way. Our brains take a lot of shortcuts and categorize the world around us. It is statistically likely that if you have a penis, you identify as a man.
As we've evolved as a society, we have come to understand and recognize that these statistically likely correlations not always hold up (it's just likely, not a guarantee, after all). So cis and trans are descriptors of whether or not the correlation between your gender identity and your physical characteristics match (cis) or don't match (trans) society's expectations.
And ofc, there’s a free space in the center: politicians argue about what other politicians are wearing rather than about climate change or something else that matters.
Aha! That got it. Three colons. Spoiler, then the text for the spoiler listing, an enter, n closing `::: and then it works. It doesn’t work without the enter before the spolied text, which is just confusing and annoying imo. The >! Markdown is so much better.
But! You can enter anything after the initial ::: spoiler as the text to show before clicking
extratesting
It’s working on mobile browser for me, but not on jerboa. Jerboa doesn’t seem to recognize several markdown notations.
Ok i avoided replying to this for long enough. Based on your requirements, I’m making the following recommendations:
Nutrient-rich meal replacement bars: These bars are designed to provide a balanced mix of macronutrients (carbohydrates, protein, and fat) and essential vitamins and minerals. They are often fortified to meet nutritional needs, making them a convenient and space-saving option. However, they should not be relied upon as the sole source of nutrition for an extended period of time.
Dried fruits and nuts: Dried fruits are a concentrated source of natural sugars, fiber, and some essential nutrients. They provide energy and can help satisfy hunger. Nuts, on the other hand, are a good source of healthy fats, protein, and fiber. They offer satiety and provide a range of beneficial nutrients.
Jerky: Jerky, typically made from lean meats, is a good source of protein and can provide energy. It is compact, lightweight, and doesn’t require refrigeration. Be mindful of the sodium content.
Meal replacement shakes: These shakes are formulated to provide a balance of macronutrients and essential micronutrients. They often contain protein, carbohydrates, healthy fats, and a blend of vitamins and minerals. They are easy to consume and require minimal preparation.
Energy gels: Energy gels are designed to provide quick energy in the form of simple carbohydrates. They are often used by athletes during intense physical activities. While they offer a rapid energy boost, they do not provide substantial nutrients beyond carbohydrates.
I think it’s fair to not be interested in hearing about kids, but the reality is that may mean you aren’t interested in their life any more (and thus you aren’t interested in having a relationship with the person they’re able to be now). It’s likely to hurt their feelings if they mourn their past life themselves, but that doesn’t mean hurt is avoidable here. It’s also possible they love their new life and will not be bothered by moving on from their relationship with you, at least for a few years.
