A_Random_Idiot , to linux_gaming in What gamepad?

i use a playstation 3 controller without issue.

Aeryn , to games in How to decide what kind of controller one should purchase?

I game on PC every day, and I always use a controller. I’ve tried many different controllers over the years, and most of them have had issues right out of the box. Only one controller has been perfect. The razer wolverine v2.

<a href="" rel="nofollow">https://www.razer.com/ca-en/console-controllers/razer-wolverine-v2</a>

It is super well built, and has a nice heavy feel that feels great if your hands are slightly larger than average. The thumb sticks are very grippy, have uniform resistance in every direction so you can be super accurate, and have zero stick drift after years of intense gaming. The face buttons have a mouse click feel to them, which I love. I always hated the face buttons on other controllers, including the genuine Xbox Controller, because they felt mushy and have inconsistent press and release.

I’ve tried 8bitdo, they felt cheap and uncomfortable. I’ve tried the Xbox Elite Controller, but it had tons of quality issues. I haven’t tried Scuf, so I can’t comment on that. But this razer controller is by far the best. Once you’ve used these clicky face buttons, you’ll never want to go back to a normal controller.

I highly highly highly recommend it. The only downside is that it’s wired, but they have a more expensive version that is wireless.

HubertManne , to asklemmy in Why do human beings feel the constant need to be validated for their actions/opinions/interests/etc.?

Validation for beliefs like all human beings are the same by asking a question where that is included as some kind of truth? That kind of validation? Is this question sarcastic?

Yep. They all pretty much just jack with the flag.

Especially if it is at someone else’s expense so they can get a rush off of subjugating defenseless civilians and leading off sadistically with the enslaved, risking nothing in their hidden-bunker cowardice.

I’ve heard many people complain about DuckDNS. Personally use desec.io for DDNS and it’s been solid.

Dark_Arc , to selfhosted in community hosted backups
@Dark_Arc@social.packetloss.gg avatar

You could use kopia for this (but you would need to schedule cron jobs or something similar to do it).

The way this works with kopia… You configure your backups to a particular location, then in-between runs there’s a sync command you can use to copy the backup repository to other locations.

Kopia also has the ability to check a repository for bad blobs via its verify function (so you can make sure the backups stored are actually at least X% viable).

Using zerotier or tailscale (for this probably tailscale because of the multithreading) would let you all create a virtual network between the devices that lets them directly talk to each other. That would allow you to use kopia’s sync functionality with devices in their homes.

iAmTheTot , to selfhosted in Any non-tech-background self-hosters?

I’m “techy”, but not in a tech career. By that I mean I’ve always been casually interested in tech, and enjoy building my own PCs, and am usually the one people come to for tech help, even if I just end up googling it for them haha.

Got into hosting through Home Assistant and Foundry VTT.

CeruleanRuin , to risa in This Realization Caused the TOS cast to climb the Black Mountain

The Enterprise crew is climbiing the Black Mountain, why are they climbing the Black Mountain?

data1701d OP ,
@data1701d@startrek.website avatar

The comic is from the perspective of the TOS cast, and they have just realized that, at least by the dynamics of this sappy tribute post, they would eventually have to spend all eternity with Shatner.

CeruleanRuin ,

No, I think it’s because they want to hug the mountain, to envelop…that mountain.

I work warehousing; no IT background, I just like to tinker with whatever. Have since I started breathing.

I was a fairly casual pirate, grabbing movies/shows I couldn’t find elsewhere (or just couldn’t afford). Got into Plex/Emby for my first real exploration into self-hosting (if you don’t count SRCDS and/or Minecraft Server at like 13yo); and expanded my knowledge from there. Reverse Proxys, the ‘arrs’, DNS, Docker, VPNs, etc.

Now a days, I’ve got 20+ services that I mostly access via a VPN I host, and I’m always interested in messing with new things :)

limitedduck , to selfhosted in Anyone with problems with duckdns DynDNS?

I used to rely heavily on duckdns and it was great for a time, but moved off them a couple of years ago because resolution became inconsistent. I’ve since rolled my own ddns using a script that utilizes Porkbun.com’s DNS record API.

I have, I go to gym about three times a week.

CookieOfFortune ,

Going to the gym won’t make you less skinny. Eating more at a surplus will. Also 1g protein/lb of body weight per day.
