I have fared well by buying 1-year old used flagship phones in good condition.
Cost is a fragment of original price, battery is still fresh, and specs are great, being last year’s flagship.
Also, I tend to buy large-brand models, like Samsung. Not because I have a particular affinity but because it’s stupidly easy to get accessories for, say a Samsung Galaxy S10, as compared to a cheap Xihuawii Z2H or whatnot.
Guild Wars, especially for the PvP mode. I loved the visual feeling of the game, it felt sharper and less cartoony than a WoW.
Some classes were kind of novel too at the time.
And the feature I loved was the limited skillset you had to chose : you could be lvl 20 (max) and know 30 spells but you could only pick 5 in your active bar. It made for so many interesting builds and combinations !
Aaah, that game really left a hole in my heart that was never really filled again. Build crafting during school, playing in the evenings – those were the days. I also loved how the game forced team play much more than other MMORPG’s. And then there’s the lore, the beautiful zones… Truly pretty close to perfect!
I have to agree with you there. The music, the scenery, the plot, just the general aesthetic of the game was incredible. It created an experience in play. I can’t tell you how many times I restarted characters and classes to play through in a slightly different experience. I still pick it up and play occasionally, even though I’m the only one from my guild who has logged in for the past 3 years, it’s nice to just see and experience the game again.
Instance == server == each individual lemmy (Beehaw is its own instance, so is lemmy.ca, etc)
Basically, reddit was a bunch of communities on one server (the reddit servers)
Each lemmy instance has its own collection of communities, and each lemmy is connected together, so users from any individual lemmy can read and interact with communities and users from other lemmys (this is federation)
All of these lemmy instances federating makes up the greater lemmy network as a whole
If you want to browse a community from a specific instance on your home instance you have to add the ‘home’ instance.
For example your home instance (where you did register your account) is Lemmy.ml and the community you want to interact with is on Lemmy.world you would use:
Doesn’t this then make, a bunch of communities with same names like ‘iOS’. Then it feels fractured across a bunch of groups of same enthusiasts. Or what do I misunderstand about this or it’s benefits? I’m legitimately curious.
Sounds like trying to use a rolled up newspaper to kill a fly. You can do it with janky restarts of your reverse proxy container, which results in down time of all apps, or you’d wait some long period of time for it to detect the change and rewire itself.
I’d recommend reaching for an electric bug slapper instead. Use something like traefik, where you can allow it to connect to your docker socket (just like watchtower), and automatically wire up the new container’s reverse proxy when it comes back online.
There are some niche phones with a thermal camera, would love to see more of that. Thermal modules are getting smaller, cheaper and better all the time and the main producers like infiray or guide are offering modules that seem to be clearly targeted at the smartphone market.
I'm still discovering new uses for my thermal camera and I wish I could have it in my pocket all the time. The obvious uses are finding gaps in your house's thermal insulation or finding devices that draw a lot of standby energy. But you can also use it to find studs in your walls, find things that have recently been used, like cars in a parking lot or chairs in an office.
Not yet. Until we get multireddits or something equivalent I just use a folders of bookmarks to specific communities I care about, and then open them all at the same time ¯*(ツ)*/¯
Hi. I had first in-person meet up with my new friend I made on an app yesterday. I just moved to this country so I was (am?) in need of new friends. Making friends as an adult is freaking hard but it’s really rewarding once you actually connect with someone.
That’s awesome! I’ve been in a similar situation before and it really is difficult, well done for putting in the effort because a lot of people just give up and complain about it instead.
I thought I’d heard that Weather Timeline was coming which is what I use, but it still appears to be hidden for new users. My next recommendation would be Today Weather which I’ve heard good things about from others.
