So, the purveyor of the electromagnetic force is the photon, as in visible light and radiation. If you look into it you find talk of “virtual photons” being the purveyors of magnetic force, but it seems they are more of a mathematical construct, and if you read enough about it, it becomes clear that it’s a whole lot of technical language that boils down to, “we dunno”.
I definitely agree. Back in school I learned that a Newbury medal in a book meant that a dog and/or parental figure will die. I feel like it's easier to make people feel something when the feeling is bad. Also joyful things are sometimes thought to be lesser or simple.
If anyone is a fan of scifi I recommend checking out Becky Chambers. A Psalm for the Wild Built is an optimistic solar punk book that will warm your heart.
I got myself onto the city library system’s e-book app specifically to read Becky Chambers (city closed our local branch so getting and returning physical books is difficult for me). There is no Becky Chambers on that app, nor anything else I searched for. Which is how I ended up with the one I found such a depressing slog.
Not sure it really is easier to make people feel something good. Live music can really do that. Comedic opera thrives on it. Chinese and Korean dramas can dive deep into grief but also soar with joy.
Perhaps it’s more that when we’ve put unnecessarily put ourselves through something difficult, we’re inclined to justify it by according it more significance? Not sure, thinking out loud here.
I usually do what I call “aerial bombardment” 😎 Just squat over the seat, not actually touching anything and aiming for the side of the toilet, so I don’t get hit by the splashes…
It was probably running R-22 which you can still get but it isn’t manufactured anymore. It’s ozone depleting so all production and import of the stuff was completely banned in 2020 and it has been in the process of being slowly phased out since 2004. The only source for it is stuff recovered out of other systems or any existing stocks which are running out very quickly. That means it gets more expensive every year. Now a days most HVAC companies will just replace those systems rather than fixing them for that reason.

If this is just for the fun of it I would try to run these services inside a virtual machine and just screen capture them. Never tried it but I don’t see a reason why it won’t work.
I know the-eye is less than reputable in the eyes (NPI) of many other tracker administrators. Something about trying to replicate other trackers and not willing to play by the rules set down by other trackers for good reasons.
There is honestly a lot to unpack around the whole thing. Do a search for
And your app is still 100x better than theirs even with all their resources. To think the CEO gets pissed off that users prefer yours over theirs even though they have no reason to make an app that bad.
An idea for people like me that still use reddit alongside lemmy, if you make a post on lemmy, post the lemmy link to the corresponding subreddit. That way if the post gets traction on reddit, all the clicks are leading them to the lemmy post

I believe 2. is the most common colloquial use. It is perfectly possible to be a radical conservative; and I would actually argue that conservativism is a radical ideology, given that the world at large wants to make progress.
