Klipper, for 3d printing. Most of current manufacturer use it as primary software for their printers.

tvcvt , to selfhosted in Is there a Ben Eater's Bread Board Computer/6502 type of content creator for home networks?

I’m not familiar with the Ben Eater series, but there are certainly a couple options to check out.

Mark Ferneaux did a fantastic series on the workings of pfSense. It’s a little dated, but the core concepts are still sound and apply to networking generally.

There are also several sites that do in-depth networking topics with a focus on certifications. My favorite of the bunch is Viatto.

I also quite like The Network Berg, though his videos are specifically focused on Mikrotik.

DrBob , to asklemmy in What's your stance on "donating" blood plasma?
@DrBob@lemmy.ca avatar

I think the larger issue is that the blood supply is for profit in the US. Everyone is getting exploited, including the people that require the transfusion.

I donate regularly in Canada and give it away for free as does everyone else. I don’t donate plasma because it’s not especially useful with my blood type (AB+ is universal for plasma, O- for other products).

Phil_in_here ,

I’m just surprised there isn’t a shadow industry of selling blood products fed on people altruistically donating for free (like, as far as I can tell, every country with public healthcare does) with corrupt pseudo-legal marketing ensuring that blood products are not sold for profit (because they sell the bag, not the blood, or they sell the service of delivering blood, or some bullshit like that)

Touhou series? Some of them are pretty good. The music are also superb.

I’ve known about it for longer but just started using KDE Connect over the last year or so.

It’s got some bugs, at least for me. Like sometimes my phone won’t connect to my computer or like the SMS feature takes forever to load, but having something akin to Pushbullet but free from enshitification has been really great.

Maiq , (edited ) to linux in DaVinci Resolve not recognizing iGPU

Di you have an Optimus computer with 2 GPUs? Is your computer using a nvidia card? If so you might look into prime -> arch wiki.

You may or may not have to start D-resolve in a terminal prime-run %command% to force prime render offload.

Cornflake_Dog OP ,
@Cornflake_Dog@lemmy.wtf avatar

It’s just an intel i7, there’s no dedicated GPU, no separate graphics card. The program doesn’t seem to recognize the CPU for an iGPU.

Maiq ,

Sorry, that’s all I got. Best of luck!

GatoEscobar , to piracy in Reminder: seeders, please seed on I2P

Another question would be how to make a seedbox service use I2P. I have seem some but none of those didn’t mention I2P as a feature

Findmysec OP ,

Yes, that’s a bit of a problem on the average seedbox. You’d have to modify your torrent to seed on I2P by adding I2P trackers (just a couple of them, nothing much), and then run either BiglyBT or I2PSnark to seed them on I2P. Unfortunately, most seedboxes don’t give you root access, neither do they bundle these apps. Qbittorrent doesn’t have good support for it yet unfortunately.

If you have an SBC/spare computer at home, would be great if you could attach a hard drive to it, install i2p/i2pd and either of the mentioned torrent clients, and seed from there in the meantime. Qbittorrent has seen community interest in I2P, unfortunately it’s just not there yet

The media wants a fight because fights get ratings and $. It’s in their interest to make both candidates look equally good/bad. This makes them allergic to charges of bias which helps the shittier candidates.

Do VPSs typical give you LOM? Honest question. Maybe LUKs isn’t good if you can’t console in.

Zikeji ,
@Zikeji@programming.dev avatar

LUKS, or anything that relies on the server encrypting, is highly vulnerable (see [email protected]’s response).

Your best bet would be encrypting client side before it arrives on the server using a solution like rclone, restic, borg, etc.

Drain the fluids completely for Winter

AngryCommieKender ,

Genuine question as I haven’t actually thought about this, how does that work when you don’t have a winter? Where I live it doesn’t get below 40° ever, or above 85°. Those are literally the overnight low in Feb, and midday high in Aug/Sep. Do I still need to drain, or just treat it like changing the oil in my car? I.E.: Every 6 months or 3500 miles, whichever comes first.
