As a workaround you can go into the database and query directly for users with rejected application and email provided. Then write a script to email them. Getting a fix developed, reviewed, merged and deployed will take a few days in the best case. And even longer now because we are busy with lots of things.
Easily Path of Exile. There’s something so relaxing about blowing up the entire screen with one flick of my wrist, and it really gets my endorphins flowing to minmax my stats using third party tools like Path of Building and testing out items on the trade site / changes to my skill tree to see how they’d affect my build.
To some people it sounds like work, but for me it hits that sweet spot of minmaxing and complexity that no other game really can.
Edit: I should also mention that lately I’ve been mostly playing on Steam Deck which has been a revelation for me. Endgame “alch and go” mapping is so perfect for the pick up and play style, only enhanced by having access to it from the couch/toilet.
The map system is so good for this. If you manage to get the bewildering learning curve, it’s so nice to come home from work and spin a few maps to relax and pick up loot. PoE is so overwhelmingly easily my choice as well.
Honestly the learning curve isn’t that atrocious. I’ve always advocated for following a build guide then start looking at ways to personalize it at level ~70 (and with Exarch altars you can farm regrets to respec.)
Learning the skill tree is hard but it’s made much easier when you have a base to modify.
The learning curve gets really bad when you start trying to craft though. And expensive.
XCOM 2 on the lowest difficulty. Sacrilege, I know, but there’s just no better feeling than waltzing through some aliens with my whole squad intact at the end while feeling like a tactical genius. And even the weird Chimera Squad is just fun at times for a bit of a changeup.
You play however is the most fun to you! Gaming can become so much more fun when you realize that different difficulty levels are there to serve you and your enjoyment of the game, not the other way around!
Hey I’m in a similar boat. Unsure of total time available, but hey I seem to spend enough on Reddit so I may have more free time than I realise ಠ_ಠ Happy to help out
And I would like to see a federation-wide policy that all bots must be clearly identified as bots (an attribute on their account). And features in the site code to block all bots as a user preference.
It’s not quite there yet where I am, but I am certainly hoping to a bit later this summer from time to time. I have hopes of WFH (…From Hammock) at some stage, now that I have garden that is suitable.
For the moment, short term, this is a good initiative. But I don’t think it’s a sustainable approach for app developers. Any man in the middle is a potential source of failure.
endeavourOS! It’s pretty much Archlinux with a gui installer and some helpful things for new users. I recently installed it on a spare drive on my gaming PC with AMD/nvidia and everything just worked after installing steam.
If you’re newer to Linux I recommend Garuda as a beginner distro. It’s very similar to Endeavor as an Arch base, but has some friendly GUI options like Snapper bootable backups for easily undoing bad updates and an update script that takes care of mirror list and orphan notifications. People complain about bloat in Garuda and while there is some it’s also helpful bloat, still less than Windows, and has negligible impact on modern hardware
while i don't necessarily disagree that porn can destroy the meaning of sex and wreck one's brain, i really would prefer the state stay out of my business. i think a better approach would be to provide education on how porn affects us and avenues to seek help should someone fall into an addiction. however, getting the state involved on what people can and cannot say is too much control for my comfort.
I understand your POV but porn is as bad as hard drugs (because it is). We clearly can’t regulate it given how many children get sucked into it. So letting government block this isn’t the same as government overstepping into other spheres of freedom.
Excessive freedom that hurts our species isn’t “freedom” but a hidden addictive trap that hurts us on a multi-generational level.
Addiction requires a cage being attempted to be escaped. Porn and drugs are similar in the sense of trying to escape some sense of personal hardship. Both porn and drugs are an effect, not the cause.
Anecdotally, this is a position I’ve seen held more often by young people than by boomers. Not sure what the statistics are exactly, but regardless it would be nice to see a cultural shift away from alcohol.
Maybe~~ r/iwatchedanoldmovie ~~ Some game specifics sub’s like r/MetalGearSolid, r/MetalSlug and r/HalfLife, r/moddergearsolid is a particularly obscure one.
From my own feed that’s about it, with the exception of some piracy ones like rCemuPiracy r/LinuxCrackSupport and r/SteamDeckPirates, among others. And a couple in particular that push a bit closer to the work unsafe side, so those wouldn’t be here.
Especially the lemmy.ml part was kind of terrible, I got into some weird argument with Tiananmen Square massacre deniers and the mods started deleting my comments, so the whole discussion was meaningless and left me very worried for the future of this corner of the fediverse.
Yikes. Are there people like that in lemmy.ml? Ill need to keep an eye out then. Still not completely found my footing in all this yet. Might watch a video or read something to better understand all this soon.
The history is that Lemmy was originally created as an independent forum for communists. Later, the devs experimented with ActivityPub federation and created the first federated Reddit alternative. The software itself is neutral and can be used by anyone, but the original communist users of Lemmy before federation was implemented are still around. The politics of Lemmy’s original community scared off a lot of potential users from exploring federated Reddit, but bringing more users and awareness to Lemmy will also attract politically neutral developers who can maintain a good alternative.
An alternative is not even necessary if the devs are able to leave their ideologies out of the software’s design, which I believe they are doing well.
And from what I’ve seen, the core devs have always supported and encouraged more instances to be created so that there’s a diversity of communities … I don’t think want everyone to be just on here (lemmy.ml) and I’d guess they especially don’t want to conflicts to erupt over communism (where in the past some facist or neo-nazi brigading happened and that’s why sign-ups require approval).
The answer is for some people to get to work and put up new instances. That’s what happened at mastodon and it’s what allowed the platform to absorb the twitter migration. We really shouldn’t expect whole new open-source and free platforms to just be waiting for us to get tired of our corporate for-profit big-social-platforms. It takes a little bit of work from us … either understanding a little bit about how things work, helping others, engaging, and if we’re able, putting up instances, starting communities and contributing back to the source code.
Well, that’s just not the case. Lemmy’s devs have always been highly ideological. The case in point here is their handling of the slur filter.
The basic guiding principle of GPL software has always been freedom. Free software has always been explicitly political, but when you put out free code, you have to accept that it might be used by people you don’t like. Adding DRM, such as the slur filter, is against the freedom and openness of the free software, even if the DRM is so half-assed as a slur filter that any half-competent dev could easily remove.
When doing local development, I noticed there was an option in the admin screen to configure the slur filter. Perhaps the slur filter isn’t hardcoded anymore like it was in that old github issue? Could an instance admin confirm/deny this?
“Go Vote!” Rings more and more hollow every day we have watch the country crumble. I am begging you to think outside the box of electoral politics because it is where dreams go to die.
Nobody voted to put kids to work at meatpacking plants and we will almost assuredly not be allowed to vote on a solution but there are children suffering dangerous jobs right now. The capitalists that run the country do not care about your votes they care about profits and they have so many more resources than us to tip things in their favor.
Voting has not and never will be enough. It is literally the bare minimum you can do and you should not pat yourself on the back for it.
Bourgeois democracy, although a great historical advance in comparison with medievalism, always remains, and under capitalism is bound to remain, restricted, truncated, false and hypocritical, a paradise for the rich and a snare and deception for the exploited, for the poor.
