I’d say there are three pieces, each feeding into the next.
A Culture Favouring Novelty Over Replication - There are no Nobel prizes for replicating findings. There is no Fields medal for roundly and soundly refuting the findings of a paper. There is no reputation to be built in dedicating oneself to replication efforts. All incentives push towards novel, novel, novel.
Funding Follows Culture - Nobody wants to pay twice for a result (much less thrice) especially if there’s a chance that you’ll expose the result as Actually Wrong on the second or third go.
Publish or Perish - Scientists have material needs – both personally and for their actual work – acquired through funding. That funding demands the publishing of novelty. If your results aren’t novel, then they won’t get published (not anywhere that matters, anyway). And if you don’t get published (where it matters), then you don’t get funded. And if you don’t get funded, you perish. And so the circle of scientific life is complete.
At every step, the incentives involved in the production of science are, ironically, rewarding un-scientific behaviour and ignoring – if not outright punishing – actual science. Until replication is seen as an equal to novelty, this regime will persist.

I watched the show up until Stephen Universe Future and here is my take:
Technically, they’re not female or male, and technically they often appear to swing both ways, although any sexual relations are purely speculation to begin with, including the conception of Stephen as it is entirely plausible Stephen’s mom created him asexually.
They are hard light projections. Their physical bodies are their gemstones. They are genderless, female presenting, sentient space rocks who reproduce via the various bodily secretions of their supreme diamond leaders.
Where White Diamond comes from is a true mystery, but I like to think of her like the Monolith. The creation of a long gone organic species that wanted to seed the universe with life. Only white was a bit more zealous for inorganic life forms and than simple organic life.
As for Steven, it can be assumed, since the gems can shape shift their hard light projection forms, that Rose shape shifted a functioning human female reproductive system centered around her actual gemstone.
But it’s whatevs. I’m a big Steven Universe fan. Free therapy. Never had a cartoon make me cry more than that show.

I don’t know OP’s specific background but english is taught in most of the subcontinent and is the primary language for business and formal matters, so I wouldn’t expect any issues with it
Honestly I haven’t studied foreign languages all that much, but I’ve heard the accents that come from a variety of regions and countries.
The last time I got confused about anything spoken in English by an Indian man, I mistook ‘tiles’ as ‘towels’.
I totally lost out on a tile installation job offer over that, because of a misunderstanding over what’s basically the pronunciation of a particular vowel.
Like, in the back of my head, I’m wondering why this hotel owner is telling me he’s updating his towels, when really he said tiles. He was offering me a job…

Maybe OP is fluent and I’ll give the benefit of the doubt but I’ve also seen many developers specifically from India use Grammarly or ChatGPT to correct their writing. Idk, it’s something to consider.
Indeed, and understandable. Modern AI does tend to do fairly well these days, but obviously no system is ever going to be perfect.
Not even our own ears are perfect. That’s why humans have the sense to ask questions sometimes, like “Hold up, I didn’t understand you, what did you just say?”
And if you check my other comments, you’ll catch an interesting story of mine over the misunderstanding of a simple spoken vowel…
