This is just great!

Psythik ,

Yeah I can’t wait to try some new games today! Usually it’s impossible to find a good F2P game unless it’s really popular. Like Once Human, for example. I see why it’s popular but the gameplay loop isn’t for me. Too much gathering/crafting, and dungeons aren’t fun as a solo player. I was bored after 2 days.

Thanks to this new category, now I can just go down the list until I find something I can enjoy.

Nada, but I have been thinking about that recent Brody Robertson upload about browsers and 0.0.0.0 port scanning, and wondering how I might setup Oobabooga Textgen WebUI (gradio) so that my phone can connect over LAN without using 0.0.0.0. I failed at generating a self signed x509 certificate and attaching it at launch a couple of weeks ago in my first ever attempt, so it’s unlikely I’ll succeeded at much of anything.

Also on the back burner of my mind has been the curiosity of what it would take to modify an existing NFTable whitelist to hash both incoming and outgoing, but I’m not willing to dive into that mess as a major project.

DaedalousIlios , to linux in Niche Distro Users: Why?
@DaedalousIlios@pawb.social avatar

Linux culture is about freedom of choice and movement. Any project can be forked, tweaked, expanded, or outright overhauled by anybody with the know-how in order to meet specific use cases. And those use cases are often the same as other’s use cases. But in most cases, they are still rooted in the project they forked from. I.E, any guide that applies to Ubuntu is likely going to apply to Pop!_OS or Mint, since they’re based on Ubuntu. So there’s rarely a downside to niche distros, because you can have something that’s close enough to a popular distro but that caters to your unique needs and wants.

For me, for example, I use Nobara. It’s rather niche and in most cases, it either works beautifully for you, or it doesn’t work at all, honestly. But it’s based on Fedora, so any guide for Fedora is likely to apply to Nobara. I get all the benefits of being on Fedora with tweaks and patches that make my gaming experience much more stable. And quite frankly, Nobara has made my rig run the best it ever has.

I run Opnsense on a Proxmox VM (I followed this guide). I’m quite pleased with it. Opnsense is probably going to be more secure than any consumer router firmware, and you’re going to have to make a bigger upfront investment in hardware. I had never used Opnsense prior to using this system, and the fact that I’m running it on Proxmox is a huge benefit. If I’m ever about to do anything I’m unsure of, I can snapshot the VM in Proxmox. If my router config breaks as a result of my tinkering, I can easily restore from the snapshot.

Same on Windows. The task manager bogs down the CPU every time. Always on top.

No idea, but I have a prescription for prn anti-psychotics after discussing this very topic with my mental health provider … so, do whatever you want with that information.

Probably upload to YouTube or peertube or some video hosting site then post the link here.

My setup is smaller, but when my venerable old router died about a year ago, I acquired an Asus TUF-AX3000_V2 where I installed FreshTomato. One can login via SSH and dump all settings for backup. Likewise, individual or all settings can be done on the command line instead of the GUI. I have a script on my computer that reads CSV files with MAC addresses and more to apply changes in an automated way.

I bought this guy cause it’s smaller and soft sided. And no wheels because I’m not a loser.
