I’ve been using ForwardEmail, and have been happy with them so far. Their free tier only allows aliasing, but the cheapest paid tier is only $3/month, and you can use Thunderbird/K-9 as your mail client.

Driver (1-3) taught me skid and spin recovery so well that it allowed me to recover through a full 360 on an off ramp without incident…other than my heart beating out of my ears.

My gta5 high speed driving through traffic saved me from having a head on collision, there’s a spot on the highway where 2 overtaking lanes pass each other, I was over taking on my side, then a car was overtaking a car that was over taking a car and was half on my side, I went full Franklin, slowed time and passed between them like a glove.

I might be mixing up events, but I thought that it was a photo-op when mass protests were happening in D.C. You know… appeal to the Christians. Am I mixing it up with something else?

QuantumSparkles ,

No I just thought it was funny. But in reality the worst “sermon” (so to speak) I attended was when the speaker started going off about men in tight pants and women in “spanx”. He very clearly didn’t understand what spanx were and was most likely talking about yoga pants. That’s not even to mention the homophobic rant where he implied that all fashion designers were perverted gay men who designed tight pants so that they could look lustfully at other men in tight pants

The thing is that there is always a bias. An AGI is created by humans and therefore will be imbued by human biases and, if it manages to rewrite itself free of human biases, will create its own. This has already happened with some so-called objective AIs and algorithms, where they show bias against racial minorities etc.

I would suggest you have a look at critical realism. At its core, this perspective states that there is an objective reality that exists, but it will always be perceived and interpreted through different perspectives because conscious entities create their own realities to navigate the world.

Therefore, there might be an objective reality, but its perception is always biased.

Pyr_Pressure , to nostupidquestions in What is the secret to making LED light bulbs last as long as the package says?

Never buy fixtures with irreplaceable built in LEDs, they’re mostly a scam to get people to buy a $50 fixture instead of a $30 fixture and a $5 bulb.

Also LED bulbs, the light emitting portion (light emitting diode, LED) is just a small part of the actual “bulb”. LED bulbs also have lots of little circuitry components which are typically what dies first. The actual LED is unlikely to fail, but the circuitry can easily get burnt out in cheap bulbs.

Don’t get the cheapest ones that you can find.

Don’t put them in airtight enclosures (i.e. those old nipple lights)

Dont turn them on and off constantly. You’re not using much energy, it’s fine to them on for a bit. They more they turn on and off the faster they will fail.

I didn’t grow up in a church that had one of those. So I’ve always wondered what would they do if you came to Sunday service, in a hobo outfit and took some of the money in the collection plate. The defense being, ‘What? I’m poor. I’m homeless. Jesus would have given.’

It was right around the release of Star Wars Episode I, and the new pastor thought if he brought modern pop culture references into his sermon, maybe The Youths would sit up and pay attention.

The sermon was a whole thing about “being a Jedi Knight for God” and it was insufferable. I’m not sure time has ever gone by slower. I was twelve and absolutely not won over, I wanted to crawl out of the pew and die.

Could be hot Texas southern Baptist sermons running way too long while we all fan ourselves with paper fans we made from the printed agenda, or maybe it was a lively one on some random church-hopping day with speaking in tongues and prophets translating, or maybe it was one where my uncle said shit that was masked condescension cast towards his kids, or or or. It was definitely NOT one where I “went to the bathroom” but actually went hiking.

Wistful , to nostupidquestions in How do you search Lemmy?
@Wistful@discuss.tchncs.de avatar

There is no good way really.
Lemmy’s search is pretty lackluster. You will have a hard time finding what you are looking for, unless you are searching for something verbatim, and if your query contains common words…Good luck. It also has no search operators.

When it comes to search engines, only google is somewhat usable (from my experience), but it’s very much hit or miss. Sometimes you will be able to find the post, just by typing lemmy [post title or part of it], but it will almost never be in the top results.
And most of the time , first result is Reddit…

You can try using fedi-search.com

It basically just uses this query for “more accurate search” [search query] (intext:“modlog” & “instances” & “docs” & “code” & “join-lemmy”)

And this one for normal search [search query] (site:lemmy.world OR site:lemmy.ml OR site:lemm.ee OR site:hexbear.net OR site:sh.itjust.works OR site:lemmy.dbzer0.com OR site:feddit.de OR site:kbin.social OR site:mastodon.social OR site:mastodon.cloud OR site:mstdn.social OR site:mastodon.online OR site:mastodon.world OR site:libre.video OR site:video.antopie.org)

Which is not just for lemmy, as you can see

Here is the search query I made for the top 35 lemmy instances (by active users) based on this: lemmy.fediverse.observer/list

[your search query] (site:lemmy.world OR site:lemm.ee OR site:sh.itjust.works OR site:lemmy.ml OR site:hexbear.net OR site:lemmy.ca OR site:programming.dev OR site:lemmy.dbzer0.com OR site:feddit.org OR site:lemmy.blahaj.zone OR site:discuss.tchncs.de OR site:lemmygrad.ml OR site:sopuli.xyz OR site:lemmy.sdf.org OR site:lemmy.zip OR site:beehaw.org OR site:infosec.pub OR site:aussie.zone OR site:feddit.nl OR site:midwest.social OR site:feddit.uk OR site:slrpnk.net OR site:reddthat.com OR site:lemmy.one OR site:jlai.lu OR site:pawb.social OR site:lemmy.kya.moe OR site:lemmy.today OR site:startrek.website OR site:feddit.it OR site:mander.xyz OR site:ttrpg.network OR site:lemmings.world OR site:ani.social OR site:feddit.org)

In SearXNG u can use !lepo to search lemmy posts but it’s basically just lemmy’s search.
