  • All software that is to be used on the public should be Free and Open Sourced in a GPL style license.
  • No death penalty

above two violations are punishable by death!

moonlight ,

When someone is inevitably executed for proprietary software, are you put to death for making that rule? Or does the executioner get executed (creating a feedback loop of executioners who must die)?

bizarroland ,

Does the barber who shaves everyone in town that doesn't shave themselves shave himself?

corsicanguppy ,

All software that is to be used [in] the public should be Free and [Open-Source]

Add in a GPL viral license so that anything funded by the Public is open-source. And so it anything it makes. And so is anything that makes, etc.

trolololol ,

If you’re condemned with death penalty you’re already dead, so they can’t kill you for that duuuh

Security

Caddy is good but it tried to do to much. This means that security bugs could be way more common. It has been audited by outside people and the issues they found were fixed but I am will very doubtful that it is secure yet

tmpod ,
@tmpod@lemmy.pt avatar

I think security is a fair point, given caddy’s younger age compared to nginx, but I wouldn’t say it tried to do too much.

HobbitFoot , to asklemmy in Is there any chance the decay of the extended family can be reversed?

As others have said, community isn’t family.

Honestly, a lot of what kept a lot of extended families together in the past was economic necessity. People needed a group to depend on and the family unit was the initial group to do so. You’d forgive a lot of what your family members did as family cohesion was more economically important than morality.

Some people will say this is only a product of capitalism, but this is also a communist issue as well. If the economy can provide for everyone, then the economic need for the family is removed. In contrast, familial ties in capitalist structures are usually when everyone is very poor and no one has the means to sever familial ties.

If you’re trying to apply reason to the theory, I think you’re misunderstanding the theory.

When you dig to the roots of flat earth, it’s a “don’t trust the secret globalist government feeding you lies” kind of thing (Aka a dog whistle for antisemitism)

Pff Jews aren’t even real. The government invented them to control the population.

“all antisemitic conspiracy theories are deliberately introduced cognitohazards from the illuminati to control the populace” is the best conspiracy theory regarding jewish folk i’ve ever seen.

Anyone, regardless of status, race, wealth, sexuality, religion, etc. that violates anyone's fundamental human rights would be put to death. Period. Tolerance of intolerance breeds intolerance.

bizarroland ,

I would want some clearly marked boundaries then, because I would consider unpaid labor a human rights violation but I wouldn't want my old boss executed just because I clocked out and then picked up some trash on my way out the door.

verity_kindle ,

You’re being funny, but this would lead to the death of every one on earth, we’d have to have automated evaporation cubicles, like in that Star Trek episode. A toddler violated my human rights this morning. I will pursue you to the ends of the earth, GUS.

Limonene , to mildlyinfuriating in I'm in a promo loyalty program to receive text messages and to read their message, I need to download their app

Downloading any retail or food company’s app is a bad idea. It will violate your privacy, and give you little to no benefits.

I really hate when companies demand that you sign in to their website to communicate with them, when they could have just used email. Especially if they refer to their proprietary website as “email” when it clearly isn’t, and especially when it’s an app instead of a website.

njordomir ,

It’s my go to when looking up game prices. That said I used eBay completed for consoles, since it doesn’t track hardware as well the last I checked.

citrusface ,

Does it not? Hrmm. I will check.

the16bitgamer OP ,
@the16bitgamer@lemmy.world avatar

It tracks it but since eBay uses the term “used” for all the category its hard to tell the difference between the box vs box+power+av vs box+controllers+power+av

Sometimes it comes with crappy third party controllers other times it comes with one legit and the other is a madcatz

So its a bit unreliable for exact prices, but good enough to get a feel for what bit should be worth.

@p5yk0t1km1r4ge@lemmy.world avatar

Honestly? Alcohol. I used to work security at a rehab, and it was always the worst addiction. The withdrawls are horrible, up to and including death. Yes, even worse than heroin.

I am in my late 30s. Drank in college with friends at parties. I dont anymore just not into it. I like things that make me faster, smarter, or stronger. I dont understand why all TV shows and movies seem to be centered around drinking when its a social scene. (I live in north america). Nothing good comes from drinking alcohol. They make it seem like if you’re relaxing or want to have fun you need alcohol. I just need a good brisket for both those.

wewbull ,

Read up on US prohibition and how it funded the Mafia. It just changes the form of the societal disease.

The answer to addiction is having support and care on place for those that fall to it so society helps pick them up again. You can’t stop the abuse of substances unless you fix why people are crawling into a hole to avoid the world. Lack of mental health is a disease of society as well as the individual.

undergroundoverground ,

Its so mad that we have such a literal example of exactly what happens, due to prohibition, yet society refuses to see like for like. The mafia simply used the exact same routes to smuggle heroin. They didn’t disappear or die out, due to alcohol prohibition ending. They got into bed with the CIA, under operation gladio. What they did with crack wasn’t the first or the biggest example.

Like you said, you can’t people abusing substances. They remain illegal because somewhere some very powerful people are making too much money from them remaining so.

Hugin ,

We tried that in the US. It went very poorly.

LodeMike ,

In fact in the US it can’t be illegal federally without a constitutional amendment.

Angry_Autist ,

Because they saw just how badly prohibition went, shame it took them a century to catch up with weed.

LodeMike ,

Weed was made illegal in the 70s, no?

Angry_Autist ,

Nope, it was just returned to public spotlight in the 70s as a tool to fight the counterculture

hungryphrog ,

Go pick up a history book.

p5yk0t1km1r4ge ,
@p5yk0t1km1r4ge@lemmy.world avatar

Why? Simply because this was actually tried in America? All I’m doing is answering the question. Just because this country failed at making it illegal does not mean it still shouldn’t be illegal.

hungryphrog ,

People are allowed to make their own decisions, even if they’re bad decisions. And it shouldn’t be illegal because it has been proven that making it illegal only makes everything worse.

p5yk0t1km1r4ge ,
@p5yk0t1km1r4ge@lemmy.world avatar

OK and I think it should be illegal, so you think however you want.

MerchantsOfMisery , to asklemmy in What would you like to change about Lemmy culture?
