i think one of the main points was that there hasn’t been enough research to know those things. all they know is that the chemicals don’t break down, accumulate in the body, and are in everything. they dont’ know which one(s) lead to cancer, or how much of it is bad. followed by a bunch of dubious advice like “eat out less,” but with not even a hint about how to hold corporations accountable
This is the hard part. Modern techniques can detect just about anything in anything, down to parts per billion or less.
So we all have measurable quantities of PFAS , radioactive materials, arsenic, plastics, endocrine disrupters and so on and so forth, but there are very few actual hard numbers as to what levels are distinctly harmful and what levels are just “something else will kill you long before this does”.
the comparison with “water poisoning” isn’t valid since it’s not like you overdose and you die, instead it accumulates in your body and has life shortening effects. Your body normally digests things in a non poisonous dose and it leaves your body after a while, that’s what’s different.
Use it as your daily driver and get really comfortable with it. After this, complain loudly when you see someone doing anything in a different way. Then say “I use Arch btw”
Whatever your goals for the story, shape its components to better present them. What’s the love part got to do with the rest of the story? Figure that out and adjust accordingly.
we are a tech company. we had several floors in two near but separate buildings. we had as many toilets for woman as we had for men. basically each floor had one for woman and one for men which had a pissoir too. as we had > 90% men, mens toilets always had a waiting line after lunch time (not for the pissoir, however). on one floor the only woman was a trainee who (normal here) often had to go to school for 3weeks in a row, that was when men just used womens toilet as there was no woman to use it on the floor and the other woman on the other floor of that building literally had her very own toilet to share with no one. (rest of all the woman happened to work in the other building)
then the company started to build its own building to leave the rental situation and at the same time to better longterm meet some necessarities that come along with the market niche that the company serves. (there are some laws regulating some physical aspects of the building for our services.)
one if the promises was, that the “toilet situation” would be improved with the new building.
the new building then had larger toilets on each floor. the space was then used to still have one toilet for men, but now there were two pissoirs! and two large sinks just for washing hands. yay! womens bathroom now have 3 toilets on each floor each and also the large sinks too. same amount of toilets for 90% of empleyee, the 10% have now triple number toilets they had before and double the space for washing, using mirror etc.
The woman basically gets her own.

Am I missing something? How can I make using Arch Linux my personality when once it’s set up it’s just like any other computer?
IMO there’s nothing about Arch, or any other distro, that makes it worth using, beyond whatever goals you have. If Arch helps you accomplish that goals, great. If not, pick a different distro that does.
In my case, I want to use the latest version of software and use my own configs without inadvertently breaking stuff, based on some arbitrary set of assumptions that distros like Ubuntu or Fedora have made about how their own distro should be used, and Arch has been the easiest way to do that for me.
I believe in being as local as one can. One cannot always assume that those global data links will be up the way the world is going. Also if you think email security is bad in the US then how is it better to ship data half way around the world. Makes no sense to me. The US is not suppose to spy on US citizens in the US but every thing that passes a border is up for grabs as far as I know.
Nicely put. I seem to remember some government type trying to say it was not spying to record your data and mine it as long as a human did not access it. Kind of a similar thing Google says about Gmail.

You can also look at the Patriot Act as another example of the US Government proving it is completely untrustworthy when it comes to the privacy of its citizens.
To add to this, back that local hardrive up on a REMOVABLE drive, and keep it physically detached. We are all one lightning strike away from near total loss.

The simple answer is you don’t. A person will act or think however they are going to, whether you like it or not. If its something that bothers you, spend less time around that person.
Yes but by that logic, all interaction and advice is basically attempting to control someone else’s actions. For example your comments literally tells the OP to do something different than their intention, defying your own prescription that autonomy is completely sacrosanct above even the attempt to influence someone in any form.
There’s a balance that’s struck and that’s how we are able to respect one another and live in a society. There are few if any circumstances where it’s permitted to force anyone to do something, but to affect one another’s actions through persuasion is simply an integral part of being human. If the only options available to us when the people around us do anything we don’t like is to either tolerate it, or cut ties, life would become impossible.
Unless both products had the same amount of sales and generates the same amount of revenue, the lowest seller with the lowest margin would be cut.
If there’s a replacement product somewhere it might be brought in and the cycle would start again OR the shelf space of the “winner” would increase to take over the now empty spot if the products were shelved in the same set.
That’s basically it. Some Arch users are genuinely just picky about what they want on their system and desire to make their setup as minimal as possible. However, a lot of people who make it their personality just get a superiority complex over having something that’s less accessible to the average user.
