Thoughts on RHEL going closed source ?
I’m curious about what you think on how it will affect the Linux community and distros (especially RHEL based distros like Fedora or Rocky).
There have been multiple accounts created with the sole purpose of posting advertisement posts or replies containing unsolicited advertising.
Accounts which solely post advertisements, or persistently post them may be terminated.

Edit: Solution is Zotify, use a burner account for this type of use (playing songs on speakers, quality is fine at 160kbps). It’s a bit hard to setup and use, but nothing major. SpotifyDown is the next best option Imo, cannot download full playlists but quality is good. (Not using audio from YouTube videos) Most other options...
My plan is to buy an NVMe today, install linux as a dual boot, but use linux as a daily driver, to see if it meets my needs before committing to it....
Particularly the AES, but if you had other experiences, share them below!
Edit: kill it with fire
I’ve been a long time Redditor and an Apollo user for about a year. I even paid for it. The main draw for me was the lack of advertising. In the back of my head I kept thinking that it couldn’t last. Reddit is losing revenue from the lack of advertising views. It didn’t...
Does anybody know of an equivalent to /r/menslib? I think a strong egalitarian community for men could easily become a cornerstone of the threadiverse.
I want this place to succeed and grow, so let's get active!
Due to me having to switch google accounts, i want to store all data in my account, including youtube videos. Can someone help me out? i live in the EU so the GDPR applies for me if that is relevant somehow.

What was the catalyst for the entire show?...
I’ve been using StreamQ for 3 months now and it’s hit n’ miss when it wants to work and not cause technical errors. Live TV works most of the time but tv series or movies are absolute pain. Constant buffering and play back error or episodes missing. The only reason I stayed this long because no other IPTV service I used...
So I’m pretty recent to the high seas but I’ve seen a few posts now about “stop relying on your VPN” and “people that think VPNs will protect them are naive” and so on....
It feels like more Lemmy apps are going to make their way on to the app stores. With more apps, comes more people. More people, more API calls. How do we scale this server and hopefully all of the others to come, financially?...

Currently I’m with lemmy.world, but if i wanted to create my own, to run at my house, would I need to register a domain? I like the idea of having my own domain but also don’t know how the storage works… like if I post to my own, sure it gets stored, but if I post to somewhere on lemmy.world, where does it get stored?
Is there someone here that managed to use ngrok or something like it to make their torrent client connectable without port forwarding? Something like announcing my address to the tracker as the ngrok address, so that people can connect to me using that and download.
I’m having a lot of problems with my charging. Sometimes I connect the charging cable, the “charging” light turns on, but the device doesn’t charge (or charges extremely slowly, such as 1-2% overnight). Just disconnecting the cable and reconnecting fixes the issue. I think the charge socket is getting loose....
Hi all. I bought a new (for me) Subaru yesterday and I’m already sick of plugging my phone in (yet my last car couldn’t even connect a phone)....
Hi,...
Obviously people are being price gouged, but just saying “record profits” without really being able to explain it feels like I’m just repeating what I’ve heard people say and not speaking on an informed level. What does it actually mean? Like before or after production and transportation costs? Before or after taxes? Raw...
