I know torrenting over Tor is bad, because it steals bandwidth from those who really need it. But if I had qBittorrent (binded to Mullvad) running in the background and then started running Tor Browser, would that negatively affect the network?
Just wondering what everyone uses. Currently some of the apps I use are proton apps, openboard fork with futo voice, grayjay, notesnook, signal. I have more but wanna hear your apps! Creating Lemmy content!
So I finally finished gathering the hardware for my first real homelab. I currently have a pi that I run nginx, searxng, and pihole, but I’m looking to move to something more hefty. I’ll probably leave pihole and nginx on the pi. I’m wanting to set up plex to host things for home use as well as a way to store photos,...
I’m looking to go into Usenet / premiumize / real Debrid but I don’t know which ones are reputable. Which ones have you all had luck with or liked? And what was the cost?
I apologize if this is too long for this community or if there isn’t enough maliciousness to it. This is a true story that happened to me and I have never really talked about it in detail since it happened. Feel free to skip to the TL;DR at the end....
I want to use IRC/SSH at school but both seems to be blocked. I assume they blocked all ports outside of 80 and 8080. Is there anyway to get around this? Maybe a proxy? How would I set this up?
We have a machine running some stuff on Docker, and little by little it has started to become important to keep an eye on it. One of the few things that differentiates the major distros is the package manager. I’ve been running void on my laptop for the last 3 years and love it. XBPS is super fast and easy to use. It has never left me with a broken system either. That said, I’ve got the itch to switch....

Do you use any web ui’s for your Linux server? I’m comfortable managing my server using the command line, but I also want a graphical interface that shows an overview of what is running on the server, the way the resources are being used what containers are running and so on. Also file download uploads would be great to...
Hi, English isn’t my mother tongue so I was asking myself that question since I first encounted a w/… Back then I was like: “What tf does ‘w slash’ stand for?” And when I found out I was like “How, why, and is it any intuitive?” But I never dared to ask that until now
I recently got a crazy deal on an 832 ZimaBoard and I’m hoping to use it to replace my beefy old gaming pc as my media server setup. I aim to achieve 7 concurrent 1080p streams and at least 4 1080p transcodes on either Plex or Jellyfin....
