I just went to nhentai .to and nhentai .net from TX and was immediately shown naked anime children, so no, I don’t think that site has figured anything out unless I got the domain wrong.
I don’t want thinner. I want more functionality. Don’t expect me to pay 2 grand for a laptop with no external USB or HDMI ports, for which privileges I can pay an additional $100 or so. I’m frustrated enough by the lack of Ethernet jacks on my Lenovo. The last time I had a Mac (work shipped me one), I was even more frustrated by how bad the built in trackpad and keyboard were and the fact that using an external device to replace them came at a premium price.
At the moment there are tons of Ai companies all trying to be The One that everybody will use.
But Google has Gemini and it has Android. Android has 70% market share worldwide and is offering Gemini for free to every user. That’s MASSIVE exposure.
For openai to get on Android the user has to install it as an app. It’s VERY difficult to get your average user to know what openai is and why they should use it, never mind getting them to install the app.
So to be the default Ai on iPhone is a HUGE deal for openAi and gives them massive exposure over the competition.
Google pays Apple billions to Apple to be the default search engine so openAi not having to pay anything is actually very surprising to me.
I think the only reason Apple isn’t making them pay is because Apple plans to offer other Ai services in future.
I pay about that already (~$14 a month), but for Napster, which afaik gives the biggest cut of any streaming service to artists. They also have really good custom playlist management, I never get intrusive popups or emails, and premium means no ads, even with hours of listening. I switched after the Joe Rogan thing happened with Spotify and never looked back honestly.
No actually! Napster bought Rhapsody and now runs a music streaming platform.
I get the reaction though lol. That was my reaction too when a friend of mine recommended it. But I tried it and it is actually really nice, and the price hasn’t gone up in the years I have had it.
I do have the family plan actually, I forgot about that!
And I do occasionally. Certain live albums and more niche stuff can be hard to find, and one hit wonders can be tricky depending on the genre and time the song is from. The song I’m Blue by Eiffel 65 is only available in a longer club mix and not the radio edit, for example.
I will say that, in my experience, it has a slightly larger selection than Spotify for classic stuff and different versions of the same song (covers, remakes, remixes, etc). For example, my husband was very excited that they had the whole readout of How the Grinch Stole Christmas by Boris Karloff (in two parts, but still) because they used to play it on certain radio stations every year around Christmas. On Spotify I was only ever able to find the same version of the song from several different albums of Christmas mixes.
Thanks for this! I will consider my options. I remember when Spotify was $7 a month. it was easy to justify then, less so each time they hike the price.
Two or three years, I think. So far the price has stayed exactly the same, they still have no ads, and they haven’t made any changes to the app to try to advertise features or anything like that. It was (and still is) a nice change from Spotify, Apple Music, and even YouTube to be honest.
I mean, the alternative is Ryujinx, which Nintendo has for some reason ignored for now.
(Ryujinx’s devs are much more cautious about things like banning any references to piracy in their discord and avoiding anything that could look like getting money in exchange for access, both of which may have given them less legal exposure.)
I bet greed had much more impact than envy. Capitalims is, in a nutshell, gluttony applied to everything it can touch, and companies lust to make ever greater amounts of money or face the wrath of their shareholders. Innovation is hard, so copying your proud rivais is the easiest way (sloth, anyone?) to accomplish that…
