I sign into my account from home and work, with both machines running the same version of Linux and Firefox. My computer at home has never signed me out, but at work I get signed out randomly during the day at least once a week....
so I was looking at someone’s personal website from Mastodon, and noticed that they had banners to advertise other people’s servers. while server lists like fediring exist, I was thinking of a more automatic method of advertisement within someone’s website....

I eventually got round to playing this! I had the 2008 version on Steam, so I thought I’d give it a go instead of the recent remake. Note: if you’re playing on Steam Deck, I’d recommend messing with the joystick deadzones for a smoother experience....
I have a public SMB share mainly as a media dump. Everyone can read and write, without any auth - as intended. However, if I copy files via SSH (as a regular user, not the samba user), these files are of course owned by that user and thus not writable for the samba user - so I can’t touch these files via SMB....

I want to create a Pixelfed account but I’m not sure which instance to choose. I’m in the US, so I was just going to pick the default and largest option, but I know spreading out the instances is one advantage to the federated network, so it then makes sense to choose a smaller one....
i have basic self hosting experience with docker compose mostly and the Arrs, but would love to have an instagram alternative for close friends and family. pixelfed seems to be the option but just looking at the guides and some of the posts about it and it seems daunting. any advice?
