While experts are checking CCTV footage.

Is it the hotel janitor?

xePBMg9 ,

I have to wonder if these explosives are really amazing or is the house just poorly built. Since it just collapses under it’s own weight. Is the explosive charge designed to collapse properly built buildings like that? Did the guys aiming know where all the supporting structures were placed and aim for those? Do the user need knowledge of how the building is built? Do they shoot again if the building remains standing?

xePBMg9 ,

Best thing we can do to help the children is to pay teachers substantially more. Until then, things like this will keep happening.

xePBMg9 ,

I hope he gets to pay a badrillion dollar or they make him in to an art piece or something.

Why is there no pictures of the statues?

xePBMg9 ,

The bad news is that it doesn’t say much about current events.

Most Tesla buyers are chinese, right?

Perfect time for biden to introduce a cognitive test for up and coming presidents. Would exclude trump from presidency. Probably him and no other. If it is easy.

‘No corridor without Turkey’: Erdogan opposes India-Middle East-Europe mega project (www.firstpost.com)

One of the biggest successes of the G20 Summit 2023 under India’s presidency was the announcement of India-Middle East-Europe economic corridor, but one of the leaders of the group member countries, Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, has been opposing it....

xePBMg9 ,

It would seem to me that turkey has nothing to do with this deal. It doesn’t seem to involve their territory and there is no leverage. Am I missing something or is Erdogan just making random statements to sound cool?

Nebraska governor signs executive order defining men as "bigger, stronger and faster" (boingboing.net)

Nebraska governor Jim Pillen, a Republican not noted as a women’s rights supporter, yesterday issued an executive order “defining” males and females and the attributes thereof. The anti-transgender political grandstanding offers fusty explanations of the sexes–men are “bigger, stronger and faster” on average–in...

xePBMg9 ,

They kinda are, aren’t they? Pretend like you are working while getting re-elected and enabling and covering up what your rich friends are doing behind the curtain. The goal is usually not to fix anything. Rather break it further while looking like you are fixing something. Something they don’t care about or matter to their personal bottom line.

xePBMg9 ,

So this is not an embryo with DNA from both female parents, right? It was not.

xePBMg9 ,

So Phuket is next up for annexation then.

xePBMg9 ,

The idea is that infinite growth is unsustainable. We are feeling the initial effects of it today. Individuals who are scared of it today are simply not having children. So they are starting with themselves.

As with other grand scale problems facing humanity; I think we will simply chug along until it blows up in our faces.

Cuba uncovers human trafficking of Cubans to fight for Russia in Ukraine (www.reuters.com)

xePBMg9 ,

Russian citizenship you say? It’s very easy and we never loose you say? Really low chance of dying you say? Sign me up!

arrives at front line

Shit. I’m gonna die ain’t I? Shouldn’t have trusted Russian media.

xePBMg9 ,

Probably not but they won’t get punished. But if they do, the fine will be smaller than profits.

xePBMg9 ,

The yes and no button do the same thing.

xePBMg9 ,

Your ISP should have no insight in to your traffic at all. Therefore unable to make any judgement on what traffic to block and what not to block. With the exception of volume of traffic and to where it is going.

xePBMg9 ,

I think the problem that poster was trying to illustrate is that it is unpractical to shut down a site or force the site to spend a significant overhead just cause a user could post a certain sequence of bytes to the site. An analogy to the real world would be some guy paints some graffiti on the pavement and the response, every time, being the complete shutdown of the city for a month or complete surveillance on every cm^2^ of pavement plus cleaning crews standing by every 10m.

xePBMg9 ,

It kinda did, didn’t it? People are still living in those buildings, right?

xePBMg9 ,

“females made up more than three-quarter of recorded suicide deaths and treated survivors”

Sounds like women are basically enslaved. I can understand that some slaves decide that death is better.

Fun place to live. /s

Amazon CEO reportedly told remote employees: ‘It’s probably not going to work out’ (www.theverge.com)

Amazon CEO reportedly told remote employees: ‘It’s probably not going to work out’::Amazon CEO Andy Jassy responded to employees’ reluctance to return to the office by telling them that “it’s probably not going to work out,” according to Insider.

xePBMg9 ,

What do you mean? The CEO’s job is to extract as much value as possible from of the worker, fucking over customers just enough that they don’t stop buying stuff from the company and generating short tern value for stock owners. If he has shown himself able to do that; he will get the CEO position.

xePBMg9 ,

So they are legally not allowed to advertise to kids? Will you have to id yourself on every site? This is what the end goal is, right?

xePBMg9 ,

I saw this in a New York Times article from Feb. 14, 2019:

“The president was weighed last week as part of his annual physical, and is now at 243 pounds, according to Dr. Sean Conley, the White House physician, a four pound gain since last year’s physical. At 6 feet 3 inches tall, Mr. Trump now has a body mass index of 30.4. Anything over 30 is considered obese.”

xePBMg9 ,

I too would flee in either case. I think being robbed of your freedoms and death are pretty similar. Though I agree with jcit.

xePBMg9 ,

Is there a reason he is not in a orange jumpsuit?

xePBMg9 ,

I suspect it’s a case of “We always did it this way, so it’s the superior way”.

xePBMg9 ,

I think the above comment is mostly referring to the consumers complacency about their privacy being completely eroded and not caring that they are being taken advantage of.

xePBMg9 ,

It goes like this: “I’ll be dead before shit hits the fan. I also don’t give a shit about the lesser man and those that come after me. If the law allows it; I’ll do it.” -Billionare

xePBMg9 ,

Fast forward: Adverticement for cheetoes blares from the screen and aceshigh stares, as if in a trance, at the screen of flickering colours. In the background are half finished hobbies strewn on the numerous surfaces of the room. A cat jumps up on the table, pushing a half full glass on the floor and starts to scream at aceshigh. The monitor switches to an upbeat man shouting “Surfass VPN! You need it!”. The cat, at this point almost having a red face, finally snaps aceshigh out of their absent state and they go “Not now Flufferdudel! gotta finish this video”.

xePBMg9 ,

I think they all drink water, actually.

xePBMg9 ,

Sounds like the solution to this problem is to make it easy to clean.

xePBMg9 ,

They should also demand unlocked boot loaders and open drivers for all devices. That or steep penalties if they don’t support the devices for at least 10 years. We should have manuals and specifications for every component, really. We really need to reduce waste.

xePBMg9 ,

Because someone can just host a CP instance and now that instance even if defederated from other instances still provides a safe space for pedophiles to share content and other illegal stuff.

That is no different than someone just hosting their own webserver for the same purpose. They would find themselves in jail pretty quickly. If they do federate; they would be announcing their own existence. That would not be in their interest if they wanna fly under the radar.

Regarding names, I don’t really know. Maybe instances can have blacklists of allowed names, if they care about it. Perhaps they leave the responsibility of blocking users you don’t like, to you.

(Wisconsin) Supreme Court Justice Rebecca Bradley has been quietly editing her own Wikipedia page (www.jsonline.com)

Last week, a person with the Twitter handle @arizonasunblock from Tampa, Florida, noticed that Bradley, who has been on the high court since 2015, appeared to make major changes to her Wikipedia biography earlier this year.

xePBMg9 ,

Since then you’ve donated some money to the Wikimedia Foundation, to make up for your misdeeds, right?

xePBMg9 ,

Every population ever had to suffer before they decided revolt is a good idea. When they are dying and have nothing left to loose. That’s when stuff happens.

xePBMg9 ,

Reminds me of the PSX south park game where you could throw yellow slow balls. Don’t remember much else from the game though.

xePBMg9 ,

Russians know that they make blow up tanks and even dummy air bases etc. So to not waste any missiles; they only target schools. The enemy would never think to make fake schools. /s

It does look to me like Russian tactic is to terrorize the populace until they submit. Or they just want to kill every young person, until there is nothing to fight for any more.

xePBMg9 ,

Devices are prohibitively expensive these days. The marginal gains from improved tech is also not used to benefit the end user. Devices are not working for the one that pays for it. If only they would release a flagship device with unlocked boot loader, open drivers and a pledge to support it for 10 years. I would buy that. Otherwise I see no need to upgrade.

When the fuck did a mobile hotspot become something you have to pay extra for?

It’s my goddamn motherfucking mobile data and MY PHONE. I should be able to use it however I want. My wifi went down because the greedy, cunt-faced shitbags at Comcast stole taxpayer subsidies to enrich themselves instead of actually providing the service we’re paying for. I tried to switch to a mobile hotspot and my phone...

xePBMg9 ,

Wired internet sure does not have data caps where I live.

xePBMg9 ,

They can pass whatever they want on to the customer; as long as they follow the rule of law. If they charge too much, their buissnes idea was unsound and will most likely be done better by a competitor.

xePBMg9 ,

I have no experience with this myself, but I heard somewhere that apples protocol for handling messages do not conform to standards and deliberately mishandles media in messages, making images etc lower resolution. I might be wrong though.

xePBMg9 ,

Not having elections would make it more transparent to what is going on though. It should not be in Putin’s favour to just stop having them. Maybe he can’t afford the bill of having one this time.
