So you say all this but I haven’t seen any science to show that putting a filter over your eyes has any, and I mean any, effect on the your brains transmogrification of light.

As for the rods overlapping or whatever, can you link to a single scientific article that shows this to be the actual cause of CVD?

It’s just that colourblindness can be triggered by medication or diseases. Both of which do not affect your rods and cones. Additionally, putting pressure on the optic nerve can also triggered CVD. Again, the eyes themselves are unaffected.

Lastly, and please look this up, but rods are not able to detect colour or detail (that would be the cones at the centre of the eye). They are triggered by motion: www.allaboutvision.com/eye-care/…/color-vision/

Rods help you see in low light and around your central field of view (your peripheral vision). They don’t help you see in color, only in black and white.

It’s not just the eyes, it’s both. I can fuck up your vision through drugs, none of which actually affects the physiology in your eyes.

The brain is the one that transmogrifies the light and reassembles your world. Remember that the eyes see upside and in reverse. It’s the brain that puts it all together. And that processing matters.

The tl;dr is that this is complex. And glasses can’t help you. Even if you somehow fixed your cones to see colour, your brain would still be left in the dark. It’s… complicated. More complicated than putting a film over your eyes.

It’s a scam. And they probably have a long legal disclaimer that protects from simply “doing nothing.”

Interesting theory. A fancy way of saying the press aren’t super sleuths or credible reporters with all the facts.

I’ve been involved in about 4 incidences that made the news. None of them. 0/4 were remotely accurate outside of the total sum of the event (there was a car crash involving two vehicles). The broad strokes are there but that’s about it.

But then the news is a money making enterprise that has no real incentive to report the news impartially or even accurately. It kinda cuts into their profits (real reporting takes time, money, resources).

The take home is the shit you see on the news is essentially “based on a true story”, nothing more.

Sony has always treated its customers like absolute trash from the get go. As a kid, I had a stereo that ended up dying. They weaselled out of the warranty. Flash forward to my Sony headphones where one ear died and they did the same. Forward again to my Ericsson phone whose screen died due to “water damage” (the markers were triggered by a friend who worked in their repair department said all phones on high humidity zones were always triggered because back then phones weren’t even dust proof). They sent it back refusing to fix it.

Since then they have been on my embargo list. One of the worst companies for caring about their customers.

I don’t think it was on purpose, but who knows what their facilities are like. Maybe their phones are built in a literal sweat shop lol.

In any case, it was a ridiculous thing to use to weasel their way out of a repair given how unreliable those markers are. I would definitely have taken as much evidence as possible and reported it to the consumer watchdog in your country.

Let’s not forget the ridiculous court case against Geohotz for jail breaking the PS3. They pulled out every dirty tactic they could in that suit. Really showed their colours and how they actually “fight” in the court of law.

Look man. A private tracker is a bunch of dudes that run a website. That’s it. It just so happens the site hosts torrent links. It’s not Google with billions at its disposal to craft sophisticated surveillance level tech.

Most of the time things like maintaining a good ratio, banning for hit and runs, etc. are automated, done by bots. No person wants to search databases for single users.

With that said, assume admins can and will see things you post, even DMs. But that’s about it. Access to torrents on the tracker are all automatic too.

99% of private trackers use it to generate money. Either they have a deal with seedboxes, VPNs, or find others ways to monetize the site by donations, etc.

That’s it. Just use a VPN to protect yourself from actual legal threats. Don’t worry about the tracker as a vector.

Using Wipr on iOS, which has no special abilities other than blocking ads using EasyList and don’t have any issues.

Also, I don’t see why thetvdb would be so aggressive given their content is crowdsourced.

If you want Jellyfin to fetch media from a rapidgator or megaup URL, then nope, haven’t seen anything like that.

JF supports all the Arrs suite, so you may be able to do what you want (stream media) in other ways. For example, doing it all on JF yourself and then creating accounts for your family. You would be the admin setting up the content and they would just log in and consume it.

I find things that carry over despite having little to do with the original. Tape for example. We were saying that for a while when digital recorders and cameras on phones could do video.

Why are people weaving social media and the internet into a single thread? The internet is so vast, social media makes up a tiny sliver of it.

The real problem with the internet isn’t Facebook or Twitter or Reddit, it’s the fact the entire experience is pretty much controlled by Microsoft and Google. As they shape your content, lock you out of areas and generally dictate what’s “legal” or even what gets found during your searches.

It’s no longer an information superhighway but rather turning into a giant storefront. And that’s the problem. I search for anything and the first 3 pages are Amazon link backs. Or fake websites with AI generated content used only for ad impressions.

Facebook and the like definitely erode some parts, but as a whole, there is way more fuckery going on by big tech.

And this isn’t even mentioning the tracking and fingerprinting and violations to privacy and security we are all promised.

Apple is a hardware company. Over 90% of their cash comes from hardware. Latest figures show that about 6-8% are from services. Aside from making a browser that’s quite popular on mobile, they really have little to no control on the net.

Their partners certainly do, but they are not a software company. They have nowhere near the impact Google or Microsoft do because those two are both service companies and both actually control and own giant slices of the net. Google has shaping the net’s infrastructure for decades now.

Not saying Apple doesn’t influence in other ways, but is just a spec compared to the companies that actually own parts of the nets backbone.

It’s going to be like old telecom soon, where the companies that own the physical lines have all the control. And that’s scary. I don’t want kids growing up using Google Internet or Microsoft AllNet to access the web.

The entire scientific community isn’t what people think. There is so much corruption or bias, it’s absurd. But I agree, every peer reviewed paper needs to have its top 3 sources of funding right there is the title. And we need to keyword them so every article Google or Microsoft have ever funded are right there in plain sight. And not some forgotten footnote.

Leave it to capitalism to mix everything with money and subsequently greed 👍

But then governments do this on the daily too. My first year bio prof left her job testing water samples for the government because she found things. Bad things. And they didn’t bring them findings to light, they suppressed them and told her to forget about it (applaud her for having the backbone to leave!).

It’s more of a long term strategy to reign in control of how people “consume” the internet. Google wants an ad on your desktop. They want your browser to stop, just like YouTube videos, to show you a brief 20s ad spot.

They are embolden now because they have amassed a massive user base with Chrome and all its ill gotten derivatives. And the EU eyeballing big tech is likely putting a fire under their ass.

And yes, when ad revenue drops, that tends to focus an ad company. With that said, they have only been increasing ad spots and their length over recent years and that has not had the impact from your data. So…

But yeah, all these companies are just working tireless to as many put locks on the net as possible to force you into more subscriptions, which are what companies are all about. Passive incoming has always been absolute gold.

No protocol is illegal in and of itself. BitTorrent wasn’t created solely to aid in piracy. Most Linux distros have their OS seeded. Same goes for lots of the internet archive. I used to transfer work files all the time using it.

My friend worked at Best Buy corporate some ten years ago. He got the corporate discount at stores so we went to check it out. Most of the big name stuff had almost nothing. So their margins were pretty thin there (not to say those companies couldn’t sell their products for less just that BB wasn’t getting most of your cash).

But for their in-house stuff like anything Insignia, the cost of a $20 HDMI cable went to $4. And that was a discount so BB was still making something.

I’ve started to become super jaded about discounts, especially at grocery stores because now I’m not looking at it like “wow I’m saving on eggs” but rather “so you’re probably overstocked and want me to bail you out or you’ll lose a shit on of profits if these go bad”.
