Works with anything plugged into the wall. Software developer most of the time. Helped start a makerspace once.

Will talk about Linux, plants, space, retro games, and anything else I find interesting.

Hard disagree. He specifically said it would go away in two weeks.

mesamunefire ,

Steam deck for me but yeah looks like a great game.

mesamunefire ,

Bitwise industries did that to us but it was an optional meeting. Like a kick to the gut.

Worst part is they stole our 401ks.

OSM is awesome. It keeps getting better and better.

Amazon CEO Andy Jassy warns remote workers: 'It's probably not going to work out for you' (nypost.com)

Amazon CEO Andy Jassy warns remote workers: ‘It’s probably not going to work out for you’::Amazon CEO Andy Jassy told employees who defy his edict to return to the office three days a week that “it’s probably not going to work out for you.”

I keep telling them I’m not interested, only to have someone new reach out. It’s frustrating. They don’t even pay that well.

I guess if your desperate in the software development/DevOps industries, but even the smaller companies pay as much as they do.

has your YouTube consumption decreased after implementing the "no history, no recommendations" feature?

I noticed my consumption has decased quite a bit. I would visit regularly to watch content from few channels. I would probably still visit every so often to watch the new videos. But the experience has become more deliberate and conscious. I go to YouTube because I want to go and watch something specific. Mindlessly browsing and...

mesamunefire ,

Nope, subscriptions give me what I want. And peertube has a lot of cool channels if I want discovery.

mesamunefire ,

It’s so much better… subscribing I much better than their algorithm.

mesamunefire ,

How do you get the booster without insurance? My old company threw us under the buss after the stole our 401ks.

What are some YouTube channels which follow pre-monetisation ethos?

I’m looking for some small content creators who’s content has not been influenced by the potential of making money. In the early days of YouTube there was mostly trash, but then a few small channels started using formats, using specific styles and actually standing out above a pile shit....

mesamunefire ,

Theres some great videos on peertube if you want some of their content.

mesamunefire ,

If you don’t mind, archive.org has a place where you can upload them.

mesamunefire ,

How do you upload them or play them? I got space trader from the palm pilot era working on my phone but would love to get those old games working again. When I was a kid it was then and Gameboy that kept me occupied.

mesamunefire ,

Sounds silly but I would love to buy a kit.

mesamunefire ,

Can I get this reversed imaged? I love these kind of images. Like the unix wizard.

mesamunefire ,

Nice thanks!

mesamunefire ,

Try blocking individuals who are pushing negativity and sharing the good stuff. Be the change you want to see in the world.

mesamunefire ,

I get them on antennapod. It’s great. Free and open source too. Pulls from multiple locations.

mesamunefire ,

I still like Bandcamp. The creators get more of a cut and I get drm free music. Pretty good deal.

mesamunefire ,

How does one get the new version of the vaccine without insurance? I’m currently unemployed and it’s been more than a year since my last shot. I want to get the vaccine but I can’t pay thousands…

mesamunefire ,

I’m probably exaggerating but without insurance, I have to call up each place and each place has a different price. Thats at least hoe it worked with the tests recently. Some were over 100 just for the tests…f’ed up honestly.

mesamunefire ,

Thanks!!

mesamunefire ,

Yep, they are ramping up to disable all of the scripts and extensions.

mesamunefire ,

The reason people are talking about this new change is that it will bypass the extensions.

mesamunefire ,

Peglin is fun and can be done with one hand. You have to like peggle kind of games. It’s in early access, but to me it’s already complete.

Coromon is like classic Pokemon but has some really cool little tricks up it’s sleeve.

Rise of the third power is kinda like final fantasy. Lots of great story telling and music.

Halcyon 6. It’s a spoof off of space games except it’s in rpg form. Used references from a lot of space series. Most startreck.

Into the breach is a great game.

All of these are indie games that I really enjoyed.

mesamunefire , (edited )

I did it for a while. Not exactly single person because my wife also wanted on. What I learned after a month or so is that it’s worth paying someone 5 a month to do it for me since there were always something small breaking over a tiny bit of documentation not covered in the official instructions (I added to the official docs later).

I recommend everyone do it at least once if you have the background. It teaches you a lot about the process.

mesamunefire ,

For me, I didn’t have all that much space so the daily cache was filling up quite fast. At the time, there were also libraries that you had to get that were not mentioned in the official install instructions. I found out what to do on a random discord later on. I added the additional install instructions for future people to not be confused.

mesamunefire ,

I’ve never used them so I have no clue.

The issues were mastodon related not fediverse related. Activitypub worked great! And it was only on my personal server at the time a couple of years ago.

mesamunefire ,

I think there is real pressure to divide different workers. This article is just one I’ve been seeing that had this narrative. And no tech worker I know is angry.

mesamunefire ,

It works very well on browser and outside the browser. So if your software/hardware is phoning home, it will pick it up.

mesamunefire ,

When I tried to sign up, it stated it sent me a code. But I’m not seeing any code?

mesamunefire ,

I had to get out of the mobile app and do the sign up in Firefox. Cool thanks!

mesamunefire ,

I really like the multi-pixel system! This is really cool.

I’m seeing a lot less grifters than the reddit version.

mesamunefire OP ,

I’ve had a terrible time with them. The laptops all have the same issue with the hinges.

mesamunefire ,

I can’t wait to get one in the us soon. But I’ll hang onto my current phone for as long as I can before hand. Best way to conserve is to use what you have ATM.

mesamunefire ,

I have a collection of about 60 ish rss feeds on my NextCloud instance. Some that come to mind:

  1. Hackaday-It’s great but might take over your feed.
  2. n-o-d-e.net/rss/rss.xml node is awesome. Lots of great designs and tech related content.
  3. charity.wtf has a good feed. Lots of great software developer and project management articles.

I have a lot more but I’m on my phone.

mesamunefire ,

There’s sites that do it. Heck we could probably do it just by spamming a link.
