@autism101 @actuallyautistic I have a co-worker who insists on "hopping on a call real quick" to efficiently, and without distractions, take 40 minutes to talk about the thing I already understood in the first 30 seconds, repeatedly rebuffing any attempt at redirect. The ability to share one's screen only worsens it all, with "let me show you what I'm talking about". It's the unscripted, unedited YouTube explainer, live. Hell hath no torments so cruel.

Requirements to put in a job description to discourage or filter out autistic people:

• Comfortable with ambiguity
• Strong people skills
• Good culture fit
• Multitasking
• A fast-paced dynamic environment
• Bachelor's degree or better

I see these things and think you don't want my >30 years of programming and machine learning experience, or my problem-solving skills and comprehensive knowledge that had people mistaking me for one of the team's PhDs, or my solutions that have proven patent-worthy. Your loss.

@hosford42 @PurpleStephyr @actuallyautistic I know a human that alternates between looking at the sellion of the nose and focusing on the interior of the skull where the visual cortex should be. It isn't avoiding eye contact so much as ensuring that the eye rays don't sync up and trigger a social engagement signal.

@BernieDoesIt @actuallyautistic Kanban pantry, so you can just buy what's on the list, whether you think you need it or not. Unless someone didn't move the card back to the "buy more" container, and now you're out of paper towels and have to do the "please respect my system; it only works if everyone cooperates" talk again.
