I don’t even think that’s right. It was a service you got for free for buying a pixel before they moved it to Google one.

legion02 ,

It’s the cornerstone of their methloften line.

legion02 ,

I honestly think Kia has the best ev lineup at the moment.

legion02 ,

And even then, only ones without a push-button start.

legion02 ,

My six year old thinks it looks cool. If you adjust for hot wheels demographics I think they’re golden

legion02 ,

The price of housing would fall percipitously without investment property and become affordable again.

legion02 ,

Basic supply and demand? If you take out investment buyers then total buyers is reduced (the demand portion of supply and demand).

'Vortex Cannon vs Drone' - Mark Rober shows off tech from a "defense technology company that specializes in advanced autonomous systems". That seems bad

I’ve enjoyed Mark Rober’s videos for a while now. They are fun, touch on accessible topics, and have decent production value. But this recent video isn’t sitting right with me...

legion02 ,

You’re on the right track but comparing the wrong things. It’s cost of the rounds vs the cost of not stopping the incoming weapon (ie lives and damages), not vs the cost of the incoming weapon.

I hope someday we'll find a way to pirated a car (lemmy.world)

In the end, the KIA car company made its cars into subscription models, I really hate this because in the end the car we buy with our own money doesn’t feel like it belongs to us. Should we finally buy an old school car ? so as not to be affected by this subscription models or is there a way to crack the software installed in...

legion02 ,

It’s the cell plan not the server costs unfortunately. When they moved to app based starting from anywhere you need to start paying the cell carrier for that wireless connection.

legion02 ,

Not “start from anywhere” like this service is.

legion02 ,

I live in Chicago and both my relatively new cars wouldn’t start without a jump last week…

legion02 ,

Got a pair of devices a bit like the halo to keep in the cars going forward. Car went in the shop a few days later for something unrelated but they tested the battery and there was nothing wrong with it, the engine was just too cold.

legion02 ,

Believe it or not windy city has nothing to do with actual wind, the phrase was from our politicians being blow-hards

legion02 ,

This is irrelevant if you need a truck. Neither one of those is picking up plywood from home depot for example.

legion02 ,

Who said anything about contractors? I’m currently watching the ev truck market because I diy a lot of shit and hate having to rent a truck to buy plywood. These aren’t for contractors.

legion02 ,

Yeah, not saying I even like the cybertruck (I don’t), just that those other evs as re not comparable in any way other than fuel source.

legion02 , (edited )

It’s much more time consuming and problem prone. I’ve lived this way for years now and want to be able to just drive out and haul shit without the hassle. This shit is a hobby and the rental nonsense makes it feel like work.

legion02 ,

There’s unfortunately no trick to bringing home full 4x8 sheets which is generally what I need. And the rental is too much hassle, especially for small quantities. You need somewhere to park a 4x8 trailer, they’re not small.

legion02 ,

Kinda? Though they need a better discovery page for live streams.

legion02 ,

Clearly people want it. Who are you to say what’s a good product?

legion02 ,

No idea how you can come to any of these conclusions given that viewer numbers are publicly visible. If this were true the streamers wouldn’t be live as much as they are outside these hours.

Broadcom ditches VMware Cloud Service Providers - 'How can they cancel a major program affecting hundreds, perhaps thousands of customers, with zero notice?' (www.theregister.com)

Google has broadcom envy to be honest. This is their MO

legion02 ,

Did the Allies want to exterminate Germans or stop the Nazis? If they wanted to exterminate Germans they did a really bad job of it.

Zelenskyy will arrive on Capitol Hill to grim mood as Biden's aid package for Ukraine risks collapse (apnews.com)

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will arrive on Capitol Hill to a darker mood than when he swooped in last winter for a hero’s welcome, as the Russian invasion is grinding into a third year and U.S. funding hangs in balance....

legion02 ,

It’s common sense though that us weapons manufacture happens in the US… It’s kinda in the name.

legion02 ,

It’s not even that I think. They’re just a debatelord.

legion02 ,

That’s kinda like saying “how long till openai kills chatgpt 3” though.

legion02 ,

You just sent electric data forward in time.

legion02 ,

Seconding the meross recommendation. Installed it about a year ago and it’s been flawless.

legion02 ,

When I was shopping for a new house I told the agent if it couldn’t hold up to the Tunguska event I wasn’t interested.

legion02 ,

You must have a heating problem. People say it’s Isreal abusing Gaza and the west bank. You’re conflating that other shit because it’s convenient for you.

legion02 ,

That’s not why they did it, it’s just why they did it now

legion02 ,

Yes and I trust neither side. IDF is historically untrustworthy.

legion02 ,

And no shot Chicago is moving into Wisconsin without a civil war first.

legion02 ,

I’m partial to star drive lately. Most of the benefits of robertsons but engagement points every 60 degrees instead of 90.

legion02 ,

In that case the difference is one of severity both of the crime and the punishment. If you’re not making caste discrimination a more serious offense than regular discrimination (which I don’t think we should) then the law is redundant.

legion02 ,

“job your ancestors had” sounds a lot like ancestry.

NY woman who fatally shoved singing coach, age 87, is sentenced to more time in prison than expected (apnews.com)

A New York judge sentenced a woman who pleaded guilty to fatally shoving an 87-year-old Broadway singing coach onto a Manhattan sidewalk to six months more in prison than the eight years that had been previously reached in a plea deal.

legion02 ,

Have you tried… I don’t know maybe not doing that?

legion02 ,

Maybe? All the ones I’ve tried were less than user friendly.

legion02 ,

Is this him being punished or YouTube protecting it’s brand?

legion02 ,

That’s how I run my work setup. Ide on center monitor, documentation on the right, media and chat on the left.

legion02 ,

Isn’t type 2 diabetes functional evidence of a sugar addiction?

legion02 ,

The analogy is closer to you getting banned by a lemmy instance for breaking their rules when replying to comments from another instance. Just because you’re abroad doesn’t mean you’re ungoverned.

legion02 ,

It’s like no one reads the stories anymore. There was no military involvement here. The company was notified through legal channels they they were in violation and willingly relinquished the ship/oil.

legion02 ,

This isn’t an action between states. A US based company bought oil from Iran (hence why it’s Iranian oil, they’re referencing origin, not ownership) to sell to China. That us based company was found to be in violation of US sanctions against Iran. They capitulated because they still wish to do business in the US.

What are some commonly known facts that are too bizarre for you to believe to be true?

For me it is the fact that our blood contains iron. I earlier used to believe the word stood for some ‘organic element’ since I couldn’t accept we had metal flowing through our supposed carbon-based bodies, till I realized that is where the taste and smell of blood comes from.

legion02 ,

And it was severed by a thin slice of atoms that used their force field as a wedge to force them apart.

legion02 ,

Was just pointing out how silly the argument is. You gonna ban stuff like because you’re too lazy to supervise your kid and they might read it?Can literally be applied to any content and doubly so when your example has a history of gender-bending.

I’m personally against banning any of the content because how can people make decisions without knowledge? Gay and trans people exist whether you like it or not, pretending they don’t is just bad parenting.

legion02 ,

Which is similar to the reasoning for calling fissile material renewable.
