I just want replaceable batteries on my phones again. The last two Samsung phones I owned ended up with swollen batteries, requiring sending them back to Samsung for repairs. I really miss the days of just being able to pop the back off and buying a replacement battery.

This is being blown out of proportion. These sorts of terms are pretty standard for a closed playtest, as it doesn’t represent the final product and the developers don’t want reviews to be published criticising things that will likely be fixed for the release version.

I really don’t get the hate for VR.

Valve these days doesn’t make things just to make money. They only make things that interest and excite them. HL3 would most likely just end up being more of the same, which isn’t exciting from a designer or developer point of view. They need a hook to get excited about it, and until that happens it’s just not worth the time or effort to do. In the meantime, they’re making plenty of money from Steam sales.

The Atari 2600 and Commodore 64 did okay for themselves with non-square pixels.

The “its own chip” in the headline refers to the S25’s own chip, not Samsung’s own chip.

So what you’re saying is you were part of the problem?

Microsoft is ending support for the Windows Subsystem for Android (learn.microsoft.com)

Microsoft is ending support for the Windows Subsystem for Android™️ (WSA). As a result, the Amazon Appstore on Windows and all applications and games dependent on WSA will no longer be supported beginning March 5, 2025. Until then, technical support will remain available to customers....

This is such a shame. I play quite a few games through this that aren’t available on Windows, by enabling Google Play on the system. The Google Play Games thing that Microsoft / Google were working on doesn’t include anywhere near the number of apps I can get running via WSA. I really hope someone is able to bundle this up and release it as a standalone package once Microsoft drop support.

I'm tired with all this Big-Phone-Elitism

I’m someone with relatively small hands, plus I want my phone to be on the smaller side since I prefer to use my tablet/computer/tv to watch content. But this trend where many manufacturers tend to keep futures away from smaller phones to drive people to bigger phones is driving me crazy and really makes it hard for me to buy...

Kicking a phone down a ladder isn’t exactly the intended use case though, so maybe it’s just your fault that your phone screen keeps getting broken. I’ve had large phones for years, and haven’t broken a single screen.

You can’t understand why you need to be a bad guy in a game called Grand Theft Auto, where the main focus of the series is stealing cars and building a criminal empire?

Galaxian as Ridge Racer loaded on the PlayStation.

Was there any actual proof of this, aside from someone posing the question on Reddit because of high CPU usage? At least give genuine reasons.

I imagine everything you see in the trailer is in-engine footage, even if it’s not being controlled by the player. This has always been the case with GTA trailers since GTA3.

Not that it’ll ever make enough of a dent in their profits to make any difference anyway, but this could also swing the other way. If nobody buys their games because they’re bad, the impression those in control could get is that Pokemon games are no longer profitable rather than there being a need to make them better.

If you’re not making extensive use of your Humble Choice discount in the store, you might want to consider canceling each month that you don’t like the games instead. I cancel every month regardless, then throughout the month I get emails offering increasing discounts on the current month’s bundle, until I eventually get an offer for one month for £4.50 a couple of days before the current bundle ends. It’s resulted in me getting twice as many games for less than half the normal monthly price.

Without GPD and others, there likely wouldn’t even be a Steam Deck. They really paved the way and made the case for handheld PCs, which proved to Valve that there was a market worth investing in.

You can work in C# with Godot too.

grayhaze ,
@grayhaze@lemmy.world avatar

It depends on what you mean by better. GDScript is better integrated into the IDE, with C# really requiring that you use an external code editor currently, but both languages have very similar capabilities.

I also find entering numbers on a numpad to be much easier and feel more natural, probably because of growing up with calculators. They definitely have a place on modern keyboards.
